Way to go Big Mike..next thing ya know you'll be crusin to breakfast and Billitproof.Looking forward to your new ride in the in the group brother.
Alright man! Can't wait to see you guys in March. I started the '40 up on Friday too - it stiil just has open headers on it, and the first time I cranked it it pumped raw gas out the headers - which I didn't see. When it started on the next try it blew 2 foot flames out the headers. You know what happend next! I got the flames all knocked down without any damage to the truck - I did wreck my brand new work jacket though.
Well ya can always fix a truck and replace a jacket but a cooked Gator would not be good. Ha, careful there buddy
Rad! I know how that feels, I just took my 42 Ford Pickup around the block for the first time since the new motor and tranny. It is a pretty big block, but I wished it was bigger when it was over... LOL
IT DRVES TOO! But dad's camera doesn't have sound, so I put a friend's band's music behind it just 'cuz. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6hl8BVlK3oQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6hl8BVlK3oQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hl8BVlK3oQ or http://www.traditionalhotrod.com/videos/Firstdrive.wmv http://www.bettysnotavitamin.com/
Thanks everyone, I think I was kinda too freaked out by all the things I could screw up and stuff I might not have checked so I was too busy checking and re-checking stuff to really enjoy the moment... The first ride on the street will be fun. I did drink one beer, can't afford a cigar right now, but if somebody wants to give me a Perdomo La Tradicion Reserve Maduro.
Congrats Mike - Is that the trad way to do it? I mean without the fenders??????? woooooo hoooooooooooo
I figured wiring it would be a PITA with the fenders on, and I built a separate mount for the radiator so I could get it wired and running san fenders... They are going back on really soon.
ha ha - I was just funnin. I am really glad to see it going. Good Job MAN. Now we don't have to just race avatars. White firewall looks good. Man I thought you had it running shortly after billet proof last year. What's you plan for the exhaust?
I thought I would too, but about 30 little things and another college class slowed it down. Secret exhaust plans for now... but it will be unique. Should be on the road (legally) just after Christmas. Still have about 10 little things to fab up, adjust and tweak to make it safe and reliable. It'll be another 12 years before it's DONE done.
Man brother I have got to swing by and check her out she looks good!!! I sure hope I can follow you up for billetproof in my ford? congrats. I just rewired mine after I set it on fire and now I am fighting a stuck distrib.
I have one more wire to be done with the all the gauges, then on to the lights... and a list of little things, shortening the tie rod, adjusting the wishbone, putting the running boards back on, cutting the inner fenders for the headers and the front push bars, the front clip, the hood, tweaking the brake pedal arm, sealing up the floorboard, door latches, getting the passenger side glass to go up and down and getting the wheels balanced Good thing tomorrow is my last day at work for 2 weeks... Should have all this done before I go back to work on the 5th. Yesterday I was going to test the gauges and I put the plug wires back on... probably wrong, and it wouldn't start, so I have to mess with that first... I know it runs good, I just did something stupid that I can't find. If I have oil pressure and the temp stays down like it should, I am good to go.
