    Madness... FOR SURE!

  2. Engine Yes . . . working away on the frame and suspension build. Yah know, this shit takes so much longer than it did 30 years ago! Just not enough time or $$$ when you need it -- so I just go at the pace that I can handle (which sure as hell isn't fast enough). I guess since I just can't seem to buy shit out of the box or do more "normal things" . . . and like to screw with everything my way, everything takes 5 times as long as I imagine. Thats cool though . . . am learning many things along the way that I didn't know when I threw shit together in my youth.

  5. Now that is metal jewelry! Beautiful engine and some rare Edmunds parts. Is the engine in a car as of yet? What is it going into?

  10. I picked up a pair of chromed stockers pretty reasonable about a year ago. One of them has these threaded bungs. I'd never seen them before and they look stock. Anybody know what they were for?

  19. Hey you said "Hemi". Here's my favorite! The ARDUN OHV conversion for the Ford/Merc flathead.

(I read somewhere that there was a cut-a-way drawing of a Ford-Ardun on the wall of the Chrysler engineering design lab when the original Chrysler Hemi was being designed and drafted.)

The last picture shows the complete ARDUN conversion kit as it was received from the manufacturer.

And the inspiration for the Ardun heads came from the pre WW II Talbot Lago T150 Le Mans race cars - Zora Arkus Duntov owned a Talbot Lago at one time.

Plagiarism, what a great idea - wish I'd thought of it first.:D

I like the Imperials the best, adds a touch of class. I have a set of Industrials that came off a 392 that powered a ferris wheel.

  22. I wouldn't doubt it a bit.

The Peugeot engine that raced at Indianapolis in 1917 was a 4-cylinder, hemispherical head, dual overhead cams, and 4-valves per cylinder!

So much for all these "modern" designs! ;o)

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

    Hey Dennis
They are a copy of the original prototype 300B finned rocker covers.

  25. So you mean that they made some valve covers like that at Chrysler??

  26. Still waiting for a picture of 50's Fenton valve covers and 80's Breedsie(sp?) Chrysler covers to show up here.

  27. For what purpose would Chrysler prototype finned covers for a 300 B? ... their 1956 NASCAR Grand National stock cars? ... I'm not saying it's not possible ... but all the pictures I've seen of Lee Petty's (factory backed) '56 300 B (and of the many Kiekhaefer prepared 300 B's), the 354ci HEMI's all had stock looking valve covers.

The guy that we got them from told us that he saw them at the Chrysler museum and when he enquired about them ,as he liked the way they looked, he was told that there was only one pair made by Chrysler for a 300B prototype. He copied them and had one pair made. Someone that's heavily into 50's Chrysler history may be able to shed more light on the subject.
