Haven't noticed any bumpsteer. I didn't bend anything at all. Simply dropped the drag link right back in place. I rides a lot bouncier than I would like. Which I blame on the mono spring. I have a vibration sometimes around 50mph that I have yet to track down. But at 65mph it cruises nicely.
kinda ot, but since you guys are here: is the wheel base longer on the long bed compared to the short bed on the 57-60 f-100s?
Doors are in the bed cant really see in the picture, Then only thing I dont have is the parking light valance, column and steering box. Everything else is there. I need the doors and a few odds and ends. The rest is up for grabs. I'll be posting stuff in the classifeds.
2" drop axle, 4.5" mono spring up front. 6" mono spring out back. Added a "C" notch in the rear for more travel. I run 205/75/15 fronts and 235/75/15 rears. So you could actually lower it more with some shorter tires. But these fill the wheel wells and tuck pretty nicely THIS THING LOKKS GOOD NICE WORK. where did you get the springs from?
Thanks! Springs are from http://www.classicperform.com/4856fordtrk.htm I'll be headed to TN again in June for the F100 show. Later,Bill
Too bad it's just for F-100s. I'm building a cool '59 F-350 with tilt front end, turbo Cummins, 6 speed trans, dual disc clutch, Dana 70 and disc brakes. I think the '57-'60 Ford trucks, of ALL sizes, are among the best looking trucks ever made (and I'm a Pontiac guy!). Steve <DIR>Hosting- 7th annual Nostalgic Show and Go! and swap. I looked though all my pics and I don't have any pics of it. I have a friend with a fab shop and thats where I get all my steel. Also with help a plasma cutter its not too involved. Along w the c notch I boxed in about 2" of the frame. Later,Bill
Nova Bill, With that drop, how did you handle the steering? Did you have to cut the shaft? Looking at my frame, it looks like once I get the springs and axle on, the pitman arm is going to be hitting the axle. Thanks, Steve
so you did a 2 inch c notch. did you have to cut in the the bed at all? i hope not. i just love the stance of your truck. i just dont want to cut the bed out.
These trucks are startin to grow on me a little although i like the "Slick 60s" alot more. By the way, anyone got one of these thats 3/4 ton? Found one in a local salvage that I'm robbing the front axle out of for my 63 F100 as soon as the weather dries up a little bit here.
