Fantastic work! How did you lower the body down after the last cut? My Kinda Garage! That's gonna be a great Ride!
that stuff all works on that car,,,,,,very impressive work,,i like the way you tackled the trunk (looks WAY better sectioned)........doesnt look overdone,,,the proportions look nice,,
All I can say is WOW! It would take me a month just to mark out where I would make the cuts. Great job by just getting out there and doing it.
Thanks everyone. Just in the slow process of welding the whole works together properly right now front fenders down tonight trunk tomorrow lol.
Don't think I would change anything really. I was going for the total pancake look but did the initial chop tried to push it down and realized that it was going to be insane to try to make all the corners line back up. So I decided to cut along the top and move the works down easier to add some flat steel to the top than rework the bottom of the lid. Heres a side shot of the lid got the pancake look and the trunk has an original kinda look lol
It looks like you'll almost have the same look as a factory torpedo back... well similar. The only thing stopping me from doing a section/chop/pancake on mine is because it's a torpedo back. I'd hate to ruin the lines they have from the factory. It doesn't mean I'm going to stop following this tho, I can learn alot just from watching this. Keep up the good work.... eh...
That is one crazy cool project! I was hesitant to want to witness a butchered car but WOW what a transformation! Smart cut lines inside and out. Too bad that MIG makes ya grind so much though. Looks like one of those projects that gives ya black snot!! TP
when I started to read the post, I didnt think it would be done. the car looks great, nice eye for detail. any photos of another car that your using for inspiration? if so, show us.
True Confession, my initial thought was--man, I am glad this car was free because this is a bigger job than this dude thinks!! Wrong!!--some of the most impressive work ever seen. You are in the class of Geo. Barris, Bill Hines, and people of that ability. Thanks for stunning us all with the picture work. As others said, you made it look easy!! Again showing the wealth of talent of our H.A.M.B. community. Very, very impressive and thanks for taking us to school!!~Sololobo~
It's so well proportioned that it almost looks factory. Looks like a torpedo. The best modifications are the ones that don't stand out. That thing will look sooo sweet when it's cruisin the boulevard.
Yep, the best modifications are the ones that sneek up on you and make the stock model of the car/truck started as look as if it has something wrong with it. That is going to be one slick and smooth car.
Just what I was thinking, I figured "well this guys gonna fuck up a nice old car" boy was I wrong. I'm glad you didn't post till you had some pictures, I'd have figured we'd never hear from you again. Instead, you made that look so easy, I'm gonna run out to the garage and do mine, oughta have it done before Christmas---------------2020! Seriously man, nice work, the proportions and lines are right on. Keep the tetanus shots up to date, and get that thing done.
Thanks everyone for the comments! Just in the process of the slow welding everything up did the front fenders last night and stuck working late tonight Boo..... Gonna roll er out this weekend and get a nice profile shot of her. I have to give the shop a little cleaning getting crowded in there lol
