    Hey Faith this is Travis.
Just wanted to say those teasers are just that.
Really professional looking shots, editing, props, continuity, everything really cool.
Looks like its gonna be more than a cult film!

    Thanks Travis!

I have devoted the last two years of my life entirely to making this film, and have one more or so to go... Hopefully all the HARD WORK will pay off and the film will be beautiful. That is the only thing that matters to me.

Currently working on lining up a Drive In theater for the So CAL premiere :D - had a really promising meeting yesterday and it looks like it may be happening!

How cool woudl that be? You guys would be able to come to the premiere driving in your cool cars and it woudl be the fifties all over again!!

    CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!

Well, not even the SCTA has a specimen left. :(

I was just very LUCKY - (blame it on yet another DEUCE OF SPADES miracle - as the crew likes to refer to them) I found one here in LA, sitting on the top shelf in a huge warehouse. The people who have it had no idea what it's for LOL....

    Hey Jason,

Thanks again for helping me with my computer problems the other day. Both hard drives are working like charms now and I was able to work on a little "behind the scenes" clip that is really fun to watch! Starts with a cool burnout :D

It should be done today. Can't wait to share it!!

The footage came from Tim's cam, a little video camera he carried with him most of the time and filmed with here and there as time permitted. He didn't collect a lot of footage, since he was busy most of the time, being that he is the lead actor, but I was able to extract some really neat little glimpses of how it was to make the film.

And all I can say is WHAT AN ADVENTURE AND A BLAST) THIS HAS BEEN!

Hey, does anyone know where I can buy a vintage looking firewall mounting glass bowl fuel filter? I found a cool one but it is in UK. Surely someone here in the US sells them?

    help?

The one I found in UK looks like this:

Weeheee... I completed the little "behind the scenes" video. I will upload it on U-tube and Dailymotion today. I'll post it here once it is up.

ALSO: special thanks to Allan, who helped me load the period correct props last night for my last flashback scene, to be filmed this sunday. Allan gets two THUMBS UP from me for his kindness and generosity.

Had no problem unloading the props and they are now snoozing by the side of the deuce in the garage. We will start to put the set together tonight :D... More fun stuff!

Meanwhile, I also was very touched to hear that Gene Winfield "the man" himself did period correct welding on my 32 taillights. I hear that they now pop out from the inside and I should be able to change my light bulbs without taking the whole thing apart and the glass out. I am really excited about his contribution! That was very sweet.

On another sweet note, Greg at Allan Grove components donated his very own prototype braket to the film. He made it specifically to mount a powergen to a 350 chevy so I am eager to be the testing ground for his creation and hope it fits nicely.

I am to get rid of my alternator and mount the generetor look alike powergene this week hopefully :D...

    Thank you Greg!!!!!!!!!

Meanwhile, the deuce wiring has been entirely torn off and Mark, of gene Winfield team, is about to start the rewiring process. he said it is a wonder my deuec never cought on fire, considering the way the wires were... No kidding!

    Below:

Special thanks to Bud for teaching me how to make secondary wires last saturday:

All the crappy wires you see on this photos are gone. All visible wires under the hood will be replaced by old school cloth covered wiring and loom. I can't wait!

Look at tractor parts - this might not be exactly what you're looking for, but it's close, and from a source you haven't explored:

If they're the right size, you're only a wire bracket away from having it be firewall mounted!

Are you making all these changes to your car for the sake of the movie?

Model A Ford 28 through early 31 fuel sediment bowls look like that and mount through the firewall. In April '31 they changed to the indented firewall with the shutoff outside, and a different sediment bowl was used. All the Model A parts houses have these sediment bowls -- Snyders, Bratton's, Mike's, Sacramento Vinage Ford to name a few of the biggest.

No. the wiring was a disater waiting to happen. Car no longer cranked, silinoid would not go, and fuel pump kept dying on and off. All due to bad wiring issues uder the dash. It was like a real clusterf** of unmarked wires running in everywhich direction. I have wanted to rewire this deuce for 2 years now. But with it now breaking down on the way to my shoots, I finally had to buckle up and get it done.

The other changes were also planned for a while but now I have a reason to get them done all at the same time since the car is down.

These are changes I always wanted to do and now with teh film I have that much more motivation and purpose to get them done.

    HERE IT IS!!!

A CANDID LOOK AT US BEHIND THE SCENES, as filmed by our lead man Tim, with his little consumer SD camcorder. Don't expect great cinematography LOL but do expect a lot of great glimpses of us doing our thing on a no budget.

It's 3 minutes long and pretty entertaining.

The Youtube version is best viewed in the "view in high quality" option. You will find that option as a link on the lower right side of the player if you double click on the player once it has started playing and go to the youtube website to watch it. Once you click on the "view in high quality" link it will fire up a higher quality version of the video, which looks fairly decent. The "normal quality"version looks pretty much like crap (sigh)

You'll see me doing a bit of everything... And even a glimpse at the Saugus dragstrip set... :D The night race shoots in the desert... The boys learning how to do stunt work... Me finding props in the middle of trash pile in the desert LOL... Me doing hair, special effects... A glimpse at the hospital set... A glimpse at the actors hanging out... A glimpse at the cars... A glimpse at fun moments.... A glimpse at my gear... Wel... You get the idea... You'll even see teh cast having to shower out of a garden hose :( when we filmed at El Mirage... But they still had a big smile on their faces....

Fun stuff. Boy so much work went into the making of this film... But we sure had a blast in the process!

PS: Now you know where your donations are going. :)

PSS: I am filming the last flashback scene TOMORROW :D

I'm glad you guys are enjoying the clip. I had a blast editing it. I especially love the part where Kristen punches Tim in the face...

    It looks so real!

    :D

    Ahhhhh the magic of movies....

Oh and when "ZIP" cuts his finger ans we patched it up with some gaffer tape LOL...

Didi you guy check out Kyle Clifford hopping onto the 35 ford truck as it drove by? And me at the very top of that forklift shooting it from above?

That was a really fun way to film, hanging in a small cage in mid air with really strong winds that night.... It was FREE-ZING up there! (hence the ski coveralls)

Oh and when we built the jail set... It looked so cool inside my garage! You guys should see the finished version of it, with bars etc... We had a blast building it.

Well I'd better go hit the sack my actors arrive at 7Am and my production assistant at 6AM so I'll be up at 5AM again tomorrow... With a long day of filming ahead of me...

    Can't wait!

Ahhh, glad to see guys are finally donating some more "green stuff" for the end result of Faith's dream adventure!! As usual, it just takes a little proding to get things started in the right direction. Really getting excited to see the finish product Faith, & what a great job you & your "crew" have done to promote the yesteryears of hot rodding!!----Its scary to look at your scenes & jog my memory back to my hi school days 1946-1950,---Like a flashback kinda!-----------------Don

    I just watched the "Teasers"
    I'm Speechless
    What Talent you have
You better get ready for your film awards
Great Shots and an eye for "Perfection"
    My question for you
Will they only let you film play in small theaters?
Who regulates that? The Film commission?
I was shocked when "The Worlds Fastest Indian" wasn't shown at all the Theaters, just the small ones
    Good Luck
    You gotta Winner there

:D Ah Don, you made my day! that is everything I hope for, that the early fifties will be remembered and that jalopies find their way to the spotlight again and be appreciated as they should be. And if I can bring back the youth of many of our old timers, even for just a moment, than I am truly blessed in deed.

Its like that old swing dancer that saw me film my swing dancing flashback scene. At the end of my shoot he walked up to me and said: "I was watching your monitor and I could not believe my eyes... You nailed it! Everything looked like it did back then... You brought back my youth!"

then he gave me a huge hug and said:

"Thank you for making this movie"

I am still a little choked up when I think about it...
