tuesday i started making wheel wells for my chevy and today i got goin on putting them in. it's all 16g and they go all the way to the top of the rear quarter. its super solid and fits perfect with the Gambino notch. I'll post the completion tomorrow. the body was so weak it needed it asap, so i can finish the body work....

i made the wheel wells a little too wide, so i had to take out 3" to put them in the re welded the 3" strip

so that's pretty much it for the metal work in the trunk except for the support (wheel well to trunk ). im gonna make a colored plexi access panel, but that's later, and some shocks!!

i did some more work inside but i still have to finish the bottom part of the wheel well, i just wanted to fit my seats in. t bird seats i got from my friend lucky burton (old crow) , front seat is from a 60 impala.

notched the wheel well so i could fit the seat in

made a frame for the bottom part of the seat to rest on so it doesnt hit the top bars

i made a little divider for the back rest since i dont have the middle piece , it's gonna be painted same color as the car and also gonna have sides filled in, still gotta do that

and i also dropped in the motor and ******. i bought bobby green's sbc(69') that used to be in his roadster before his nailhead. cleaned it up, painted it, put manifold/carb on it, headers. TH350.

i haven't worked in 6 weeks , at least im making the best of it!!

Well thank ya kindly darlin', but compared to what you're doing, I'm a 1st grader doing fingerpainting while you're a M.A. student working on an art show :D

Keep it up, cannot wait to see this beaut on the road!! :D

    Excellent work!

Is it possible that you can post a pic about how you attached the outer trunk panel behind the wheel well to the quarter panel? I'm just trying to figure that part out for mine. Cheers

Thanx man! i think i understand what your asking, but im not 100% sure. Behind the wheel well where the flat section starts it goes all the way to the inside of the 1/4 panel. when i cut out the old floor i left a 1" lip so i overlapped the new metal over the old and welded it underneath and i welded a 1/4" rod at the rear bottom of the wheel opening to the floor bottom.
Does it make sense? i'll take a pic when i get a chance!!

Looks *****in'. I was about to ask what kind of toold you're working with for the metal fab and then I saw the pic of the 2X4's clamped together... The quality is all the more impressive when we consider the equipment it's being done with.

Congrats on a job well done.

looks good so far. so many people rip all the trunk out and never replace it then drive around in a big piece of ****.

what did your trunk look like before?

Thanks for the explanation and yes, I understand what you mean, not sure about the rod though. That part will become crystal clear when I see the pic. Cheers

Pretty much non-existent !! LOL!! before i cut it out it was pretty thin and crusty so i just went for it without knowing much about replacing it! im learning as i go. this is my first project and i picked up welding last december so every thing i do on this car is pretty much trial and error, and as you can see i forgot to brace the back before cutting....oh well!! it's all square now!!

What back sit is that? Impala?

Looks like it was made to be there. The seat bottom looks like its the perfect width and height for the suspension setup.

I just finished the 4 link, notch, and ultra low kit on my 53 and these pictures help out alot with filling that hole in the trunk.

    I dig it!
