I owned 2 of Henry's roadsters before buying my Brookville body so I acknowledge it's not gennie but it's mine. I owned two 3 windows before I bought the one I have now. Were it not for Brookville I would not have built the roadster I now have or attempted to save the 3 window I'm working on now.

Heres my real roadster needing some attention for sure. I traded a 32 3window for this roadster way before you could buy a brookville. Back then the roadsters were harder to find and buy than the 3 windows were. Steve

I know of a guy down the road from me with an original roadster. Brought it from the guy that hot rodded it back in the late 50's early 60's

There are a number of gennie, Aussie produced deuce roadsters in Australia too, I have no idea how many, but I'd guess a pretty fair percentage of those originally built are still around, just like they would be in the US, simply bercause they were the 'only' hotrod to have in the very early days of rodding, and have remained so ever since.

I'd suggest it would be fair to say the deuce roadster would have a far higher survival rate over the last 75 years than something like the deuce mordor.

    Cheers, Glen.

I sold my original roadster built from pieces of cars a year ago. Sold as a project just was not interested in it like I was my other cars.

What counts here? Is it a 32 Ford body if you have an "original FORD cowl" or is it an original if it has been made up since the availability of aftermarket "replacement" sheet metal with some "original 1/4's, cowl tops/sides,doors,decklids"?
I'm in the "replacement speed equipment business" and I have both original and "replacement" sheet metal in my garage, but if one's talk to Horseless Carriage or Pebble Beach Types it's the chassis is what makes it an original, as sheet metal was getting thrashed all of the time. How many of these cars mentioned are running gennie rails?
Several cars listed here I know personally were built utilizing these "replacement" parts.

There are several not mentioned above, but reside in the San Gabriel Valley area.

    3.Marion Bledsoe's' Patina'd Flatty pwrd Highboy
    4.Mike Hodis'-Canadian Purchased 32 Roadster Project
Even one of those has some "replacement panels", one would never be able to tell though, the parts fit just perfect.

I had one about a year and a half ago. Drove it to the LA Roadster show and sold it to someone that just had to have it. Funny thing is, I had to park it outside the roadster parking due to its primer top coat.

    That's cool ... no drama here :)

But even for the state of California ... 12 thousand 32 roadsters is a very high number.

The LA Roadsters ( which Deuce Daddy Don is a member of ) ... has their LA Roadster show every Father's Day and they have about one " open " thousand vehicles in it ... on a good weekend.

The one thousand vehicles also include Cabriolets, A 400's/ B 400's and Phaetons. Not all are Deuces. Vehicles come from all over the USA and Canada to be in that California show. I came from South Carolina ( 2500 miles 1 way ). So 12 thousand 32 roadsters is a lot ... even for California. :)

I would say that California most likely has the most 32 roadsters of any state and very likey the most original Henry Ford built 32 roadsters of anywhere.

    :D

  17. Cool post so far and I'm glad to see it didn't deteriorate into a steel/not so steel and Brookvilles don't count hoopla

    Sometimes it's about choices.
I turned my back on a gennie 32 for $7000., complete, flat tires and all.
    An old hot rod etc.
My choice was a Wescott and I'm happy with it.

Helluva good choice for the sodium-chloride flatlands of Bonneville.

Some nice touches on a few cars that are a little bit out of the norm.
Stole some pics cuz I plan to do those mods on my 31 on 32 rails project.

Exactly my sentiments!! WEAV. In my communications, I have heard that ALL these after market STEEL roadsters (other bodys too), You have to do a whole lot of "massaging" to get the right fit!!---Now, back to my original question.--------Don

i don't own one but know of at least 20 real ones within about 15 miles of me, if we do all of north san diego county there's at least 100 real ones probably more. oh and around here there's probably 5 fakes to every origional.

i know a couple of the big collectors in this area have at least 5 each, plus there's another guy inland aways that has 6 or 7 project cars (they aren't for sale, i've tried) plus a couple nice drivers.

i wouldn't be surprised if there were 1,000 origional bodied cars in california alone

  30. Thanks Deuce.

    Good lookin' little car.

I especially like the line of the top.

Color combo and the steelies look good as well.

How wide would you say the rear wheels are?

I held up a rear fender on mine a couple days back and the 10" wheel is a touch wide.
    Might be a go with an 8" wheel, but . . . :( . . . I only have one 8" Ansen slot mag.

    Got a bunch of 7's though....:D
