Yeah, that was a GREAT site & had catalogued a lot of hot rod history. The miserable fink that owns the site took it down for some unknown reason. He won't let anyone take over the site or pay the costs to re-open it. I was lucky enough to get one pic of the Bell Plumbing Roadster running in 1955 @ Lowry AFB before it went down. It helped me document the history of my rod's chassis.
I remember thunder road the most out of all of them. could sneak over the fence real easy. A pal I hung with had a cousin that raced a 66 chevelle called it sundays child I wanted a car like that real bad. I remember a time when a front engine dragsters chute did not open went and drove through the farmers yard at the end of the track I think it even took out some chickens real good times.
I agree with you, You would of thought when the guy decided to close the Colorado Racing Memories site he would of gave someone the option to take over and keep it going. I mean most every picture was sent to him anyway, it wasn't like it was his personal collection. He even had it so you couldn't click and save any of the pictures.
Pueblo is still going, I'll dig up some more pictures... I may have some from CDR, I know I have a few from a Funny Car race there in 70
What a find!, and the $$. Why was it "abanded?" I only saw the Blue Dragster w/blue plexiglass front spoiler. Is B&B,s Roadster around? Anyway, thx for the detailed story, really enjoyed it!! What are B&B doing now?
The car I bought was the blue car, the blue plexiglass spoiler was in the trailer but it was broken, I talked to Mark Williams and he said the car started out as his own personal Top Fuel Car before B&B got it from him.
When i was a kid i delivered papers to the lexa family .they had a cougar funny car ,if i remember it was sponsored by colorado machine in littleton .any pics or info would be great thanks .c
The CDR Billboard-fantastic! I remember Colberts red&blue dragsters. Saw Nick roll the red one when chute didnt blossom. Is he alive?
Not sure... I remember Dan Lexa, I did the airbrush work on the grille, headlights and taillights on his last funny car a Camaro named "Colorado Gold" that he bought from Billy Meyer
Thx for History of: didnt know MW had owned it. (hasn,t he done well!) Do you know if B&B,s roadster exists? Bob, I have pic of you?, at Indy F/C Reunion, mind if I post it?
Yea go ahead (if it's decent... ) I have one picture of the B&B Roadster I'll see if I can dig it up.
Man thanks for the Guzman pictures, I bought the Monza in 87 and ran it in the Denver area. Roger Guzman only had that car because he was waiting for his new Arrow to be finished after Robbie crashed it at Bandimere.
This was the Arrow that Robbie Williams crashed right off the starting line at Bandimere during a match race, he bought the Monza (ex Hot Sauce Monza)and had John Pugh paint the Monza to look like the Arrow and ran it until the new car was finished. Roger sure had some beautiful funny cars.
