I was part of the 6th Annual Blanket Run in Indianapolis, Indiana that included lunch at the Cluster Buster Hot Rod Club. I learned that this club started in 1948, I was wondering what the OLDEST Hot Rod Club is. The weather yesterday was cold and snowy, but there was a great turn out and more people will be warm this winter due to the generosity of "car guys and gals".

We were there as well, the tours were awesum this year as well. Bruce Littons village small town usa is a not to be missed visit for sure.
The Cluster Busters lay claim to being Indianas oldest car club but i think there are older ones in other states etc...
Only at the blanket run will you get to see roadsters in the snow with no tops.......

Define "oldest". The Gear Grinders of San Antonio, Texas originated in 1948 but didn't incorporate until 1951. We have been continuously active since then and still have an membership of 60+ members and meet once a month. You can find out more about our club at: www.gearrinderssanantonio.com

  5. Here's the scoop on the Cluster Busters. I was an active member for over 32 years.

They began in Indianapolis in early 1948. The club has been a continuously active organization since.

During the 40th anniversary year, research throughout the US reinforced the fact that they were at least the oldest continuously active car club in the United States east of the Rocky Mountains.

This is true. I also know if you go to the NHRA Museum, there is alot of artifacts and letters to and from Wally Parks involving the Cluster Busters when they worked together trying to get NHRA developed.
I was also a member for about five years... but with my dad being in it for 32 years, I've been around the club for a while.
Oh, just a suggestion... change the title of this thread to "Oldest Car Clubs" or something, you might get more view since there is allready a thread on the Blanket Run.
