Theres one of these in Clovis for sale FWI. Running I6 to boot!

My sister still has her 59 Fairlane 2dr that was her first car. Dad rescued it from a garage that it had been sitting in for 21 years. (that was around 1982-ish) It was a barn find before there was such a thing.

Sorry for the hijack but that wagon is truely a nice car to look at.

The 59 was completely original interior, paint and woodgrain..showed 51k orig. miles..motor was a FE 332 and a smokin turd..did not run like the wagon looked so we yanked it and rebuilt it..bored out to 390 and ran 390 heads/intake..had a new expensive Holley but that was crap so we swapped it for an Edelbrock and it ran great. Basically from front to rear everything was new or rebuilt under the car. It was still a boat and floaty. I had a 57 Country Squire prior to this one that was awsome in every way..Loved driving that car. The 59 was very Jetsons like but felt bloated.
Wish I had that 57 back..it was a better wagon then the 59 and it was all original too.

Yes it was the original 332 FE motor.

  17. My mom owned one of those land yachts when I was in high school 40 yrs. ago. What a tank; I still break out in hives if I get too close to one.

But, I''ll admit that that yours was pretty nice!

That '59 car is still way better than the similar, but later LTD crap my family and I rode around in in the 70's. What a piece of ugly garbage that was. Same color/fake woodgrain scheme outside, but ours was the same light brown inside as well.

I hope it never gets to people restoring those 70's dogs. But, this baby is pretty sweet - the '57 too.

Anyone know of where I could get my exterior trim redone? My "woodgraining" has completely disappeared and is starting to show the glass fibers now.

Beautiful squire you have there BTW!

OMG! Are you spying on me dude????

Went and looked at a cherry 40k mile '72 wood-grained-wonder-wagon today!

There's nothing quite like a 5000 lb car pulled by 130 hp worth of dark era detroit smogger motor ... But with a C-6 and a 9'' already in there, waking up that 351 wont take too much, then it would be a fun ride!

Sorry about the hijack... Nice looking wag's, both of 'em!

  21. man that was nice...I agree with the others...the 59's definitely are growing on me...that back tailgate glass is killer...if I am not mistaken they used something like that or very close on the Deora built by the Alexander Bros

Oh shit, don't tell me it is so man. Don't post any pics or you'll give some seriously bad flashbacks and I will have to hold you accountable for any harm and damage that might result. Proceed at your own risk.

Although, one good memory of that LTD was one night when fully loaded with the whole crew headed home, we all of a sudden out of nowhere just ran over a bunch of logs laying in the middle of the road at full speed. Some asshat in a truck must have just dropped them before we go there. The logs were about 6-7" in diameter maybe and there was probably 6-10 of them. We didn't see them until there was no time to do anything about it. My dad just said something like "Oh shit!", quickly followed by the thumedy thump, thump, thump as we ran right over top of them doing about 45-50 mph. We slowed down and pulled over, but it was dark and my dad couldn't see anything. I could tell he was very, very pissed. We just went on home. Didn't seem to do any real damage, at least not that I could see or cared about as a 12 year old punk. Got to give it some credit though. It took that beating with stride. That poor car had a hard life and it was ugly.

  25. I bought a 55 'squire on Ebay, buy it now..... Guy said it ran 2 years ago. I got to virginia (from Michigan) to retrieve it, and it was stuck in the ground, with all 4 wheels locked up. We had our 454 suburban in 4 low-lock smoking all 4 tires trying to unearth it...... I should just told the guy to eat it and left, but I dragged the turd home. Parts were nonexistant so I sold it to a guy in Ohio who had done 2 other ones...... Both of your cars were beautiful.....

  26. Wow we had that car when I was a kid. White with brown interior,y-block,3 on the tree. Pop bought the thing brand new as his thinking was to get a new car every 10 years so in 69 we got a merc. The wagon was still plenty good until my brothers got ahold of it. Cool ass ride >>>>.

    Hey,
When I saw this car in Jamestown, New York back in '95 it brought back memories of when mine was new and Mom & Dad brought it home in May of 1959. Wish I had the money to buy the one you had when it was offered to me in 1999. I have not seen one as nice as yours since the 1960's. Your car was so mint, I've had to do everything over on mine over the past 40 years I've owned it. But at 176,000 miles it can't stay mint forever.

  29. You are absolutely correct....
