Looks excellent, Scoot. You picked an extremely ambitious project, and it's great that you have the commitment to keep moving it forward. Keep it up!

Well what fun is a teaser if I post more pictures? ;):D

The box itself is from a '69 Cuda, I think. I've had a big change in plans with the steering since I decided to use this box. The pitman arm is going to be inboard now. The drag link will penatrate the cowl and will have a hood/scoop where it passes through. I'll have to make a pitman arm from scratch to clear everything (including my foot space). I think it will help the overall geometry quite a bit and will also clean up the lines of the cowl. My cowl is slightly wider than say a 31 Coupe or Tudor body style, so it would really put the arm out there. This will also allow me to back to a shorter steering arm on the spindle which will definitely help speed the box up a bit.

I used only the pedal arms and cut the rest off so they would be suitable to flip upside down for hanging pedals. The tubing the arms are welded to are 1" DOM tubing with Oilite flanged bushings on either end of each pedal. The pedals pivot on a 5/8" diameter hardened and chromed shaft. Smooooth as can be and will definitely outlast the car. HA!

I'll post some more pictures of the cowl structure all welded up soon. The pictures have not been uploaded to the photo host yet. So... I guess you'll have to wait. :D

Okay, okay.... At the risk of ruining the impression that I know what I'm doing; here's a couple more overall views. Keep an open mind. It has a loooong way to go! The amount of tin work left to do is staggering! I also have a gas tank to fab up yet that should fill that void at the rear, pretty well.

I really shouldn't show these, but what the hell...

Too low! The back will come up 3/4" and the front will come up about a 1/2" or so. I would like it to have a very slight rake.

    Ya know Scooter.
One thing you could do to raise the front end a bit and to also lower the coificient of drag, along with stabalizing the widgetgetter flopalizer, is to take that lame Hemi out and ship it up my way.
Whats the gas tank going to look like?.........:D

HAHAHA! I was thinking of just running it without the heads on the Hemi. That would do it! I like the aerodynmic theory better though!! ;):D

It's a 1931 Ford Model A Deluxe Fordor Town Sedan (160-B). Ford started producing them about mid-year, 1931. When I bought the car I was told that it was only made by the Murray company (an assumption made by the curved-top windows), but I have since learned (about a month ago) that this particular model (or at least what it WAS) was made by both Briggs AND Murray and there are no noticable differences between the two makers with the exception of the body tag that was on the firewall (which is no longer legible).

    Here's how it started out...

Awesome work, man. I remember when you were pondering even cutting the body up. It's definitley come a LONG way and in the right direction for sure!! Something to be proud of, nice job.

    Looks dammmmm good.

  26. I used a similar method to lay out the tank for my Modified. It now has much heftier drilled supports (on the basis that I have to make everything at least twice).
