I got 4 Original 67 Chevy Disc Brake Ralley Center Caps for $25 at a Mexican Flea Market in East Texas. ...........Then better than that...........used them for a Christmas Present to my brother..............Then Same Brother.......owed him $150, bought (true story) a complete 348 Tri Power manifold, carbs, air cleaner (black stock one) and 3 derbys with mechanical linkage for $19 at a farm auction in Ohio 25 years ago............called my debt even. ..........But remember back then Super Chevy did not mean anything nor did numbers matching.

  5. Got lucky today.

    Found a complete Ford 1932 4-piece hood (20 louvres) with stainless strip for 40 euro's or 55 U.S. bucks.
The old man thought it was a Model T hood.
Hood had been lying for the last 40 + years.

Okay, Portland swap meet about 1990. Came across one vendor who had a board with photos of various stuff for sale. I scanned across all and caught a glimpse of a blurry polaroid and on the bottom of it was written "Willys hood- $30". It was a steel, rust-free 1933 Willys hood in original paint missing only one or two vents. I couldn't get my cash out fast enough!

  7. i got one more for this post the other day

i bought a set of 12 spoke spindle mounts and had been looking for some magnesium rear wheels to run out back . actually was about to send some money to a guy on here to buy a set of 15 x 10 magnesium torque thrusts (1200.00) . i had to run to a junkyard with a buddy to get an F1 steering box for his rod and their were a bunch of busses at the yard so i wandered through the busses and spotted a set of ........you guessed it ........15 x 10 magnesium torque thrusts so of course i'm excited and ready to drop 1000.00 bucks on these things(maybe more as they are really nice) i carry em' up to the front of the yard and ask the guy what he wants and he says " they gotta be worth 15 wouldn't ya think?) so i'm like oh shit he knows what he's got here and said " oh i don't know " he says "well i'd say at least 15 to 20 bucks a piece in scrap weight ...will ya go 40.00 for the pair?"

so as you can imagine i couldn't peel the money out of my pocket fast enough.

here they are with very minimal clean up with a WD40 soaked rag.

I got a Clifford 4 barrel carb intake manifold for a 223 ford 6 for $30 at the junk yard. Also found a clifford aluminum valve cover for a 258 jeep for $15 at the same yard it was just sitting the back seat of an old wagoneer. The best thing i found was a 1965 impala 12 bolt rearend out of a wrecked wagon for $62 on a half off day. Sorry for the small cell phone pics.

Bought two 12V Dewalt drills with cases, batteries and chargers for $50. And got an orphan 14.4V battery in the deal. Both work great!

Definitely OT,but this past spring I found a 8' bed off of a '93 Dodge pickup by a crane shop, stopped and asked about it and the guy said "how's $100 sound?" Long story short,I got a near perfect take-off bed for my '87 Dodge pickup for $100,sold the tailgate on evilbay for $189,and sold the wheel well mouldings for $30. One of my best deals yet, at least for $100.

  15. traded a free 52 chev truck for a 29 essex roadster, got a 48 austin devon (the kind they make into nostalgia dragsters) for free. My dad gave me a running/driving 55 Chev and he also gave me a 69 Cadillac with under 70k miles on it that I gave to my son..

I walked by a guy's space at Fall Hershey this year on Wednesday as he and his son were unloading a '50 Olds three speed, bolted to a '49-'54 Cadillac bell housing.

    "How much for the transmission?"
"Oh, I don't know....the old man we got most of this shit from said it was Oldsmobile....fifty bucks, I guess."

Even though my wagon was full, I found a way to strap it in!

I picked up a full set of 50 olds hubcaps out of an antique store a few weeks ago for about $40....

And just last week, I went through a box of junk that I bought at a rummage sale a couple of years back and it sat on a shelf ever since. I think I paid about $5 for it. It was full of old stewart warner gauges, sending units, etc. Some even match. What the hell do I do with SW 3500 rpm tachs?

I got the 265 PowerPak and exhaust that's in my car for free.
I've got a 70's 350 in my garage that needs a rebuild for free.

    Under $100 each:
    55-64 Chiltons
    vintage custom magazines
    staggerbolt corvette valve covers
    Offy Intake
    4 Wide white walls

  29. Amen Brother Rocky, I wish I still had every car I've gotten for $50.00 or less. I've owned over 200 cars and over half were in the $100 range and many were free.
my biggest regret was one I turned down for free, A Gasser style Allstate (a Henry J sold by Sears) with a running 389 Pontiac.
