Hope I found the right place for help as I tackle this heap and get it rolling again. Picked her up earlier this week- it is actually a 55 'title' truck. REAL solid body- even the box and cab mounts are A-1! Would be a great candidate for a full resto, but thats just lame. Paint and interior look perfect to me- just need to drop a motor and trans in, wire it up and find some 6 lug factory steels........anybody have a set?
thats about it for now. probably re-ring the junk 305 I have in the corner and stab a big cam in it, find a set of wheels, fix the brakes, wire it up and go. future plans are a healthy big block of some kind (455 buick maybe?) and set it up to tow my olds to the strip.............
Check over here also....http://talk.classicparts.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7. I am photographing the re assembly of a 53 just out of the paint booth.
brassnuckles- would love them wheels, but it would probably kill me to ship west coast to east.... olchevy- looks good! local guy too eh? where do you get your parts? Ill be needing some front en/brake pieces.......
It's a '55 "first series" truck. You can tell from the one-year-only 3100 hood emblem. These also had an open driveline from the factory as opposed to the torque-tube drive of 1947-54. Nice truck! I've been looking for one for some time now.
right on! thanks for the info on the hood emblem too...and yes- open driveline!! learning about this thing as I go. srdart- im really trying to find someone local with wheels- im not concerned with them being originals- dirt cheap is the name of this project and ill bet shipping is more than I want to give for an old set of 6 luggers. Still looking for a good parts website for this thing.........anyone????
