    love the engine but I would bead blast the blower and intake. IMHO, the current level of patina doesn't compliment the clean, painted motor.

    Yeah, you might be right. I haven't cleaned it at all yet. I was going to start slow and see if I can spruce it up just a little. Maybe with a good hand scrubbing with a scrotchbrite or maybe some soft grit pumice soap. Next level maybe a very light buffing wheel on a drill or something. I hate to just go and blow it clean just yet. But, I do agree with your point and thought that myself. Not quite there yet with it though.

    Look into soda blasting that blower, it comes up clean and seals the pores so it stays that way, but doesnt change the 'as cast' look...i think its what you are after.
    Look for some photos of Flatoz's roadster, his 4-71 is done that way.
