I'd love one of these, and did before the credit crunch. Just add some speed parts to that straight-eight and I'd be in hog heaven. I've never seen a roadster for sale, though, mostly just four-door sedans. -Dave Edit: Wow, this post is so old I duplicated myself without realizing it. Sorry.
Yep, but like these cars it just gets better with age! Dave, I like that '33 roadster in the ad but I like the '34 Pontiac cabriolets even more:
Dave, Welcome back! Ok, you gotta update us on those Pontiacs that started this whole thread. Any progress or are they like mine and still waiting for a burst of motivation and a barrel full of money. Rick
have not done much on the pontiacs still collecting parts but i recently had a win.the previous owner rang me 3 months ago and told me he found a box with a radiator surround in it that his deceased father must of stashed away.i went oxer to his factory to pick it up thinking its probably bent and rusty.it was fully rechromed and mint.3 weeks ago he rings me again (dave i found another box)this time it was the headlights sidelights and rear drum taillight all restored and mint.no charge just a handshake and merry christmas
thanks george.i took some pics of the upper door plate on my coupe.i hope they help .i also included a pic of my latest project a1939 oldsmobile pickup.its surprising how many parts are interchangeable with pontiac of the same year.
That upper sill area is actually conected to the door? I have that spring a ma jig on my doors also. But had no idea what they were for. I hope Rick is lurking and can elaborite on this. It almost looks like a door stay.So the door can only open so far. I wonder if we actually need to reuse them?
Here I am just thought I'd check on you guys while me and the boy are hanging out waiting for Mom to come beck from the grocery store. Dave, all I can say about that grille and lights is -Holy Crap! Congrats on having a good honest person there to deal with. As for that 'door stay' device, well I've learned something new today. 1930 and up didn't have anything like that and I honestly have never noticed that on other 29's or older I've looked at. But, it would have been easy to miss being atop the door.
Hey Dave, there's a source there in Australia that is reproducing tailight lens for our cars in plastic. Can't remember their name just yet but I've got it here somewhere if I can find it. I may have mentioned it earlier, can't remember. Are all the bezels with the light buckets? Rick
It was a year the first time this thread died and came back......now it is almost 2 YEARS and I need to revamp it again. I will be starting the long hard "trail of fears" in search of some of the missing parts for my '30 Pont. 2 door Sedan.....Anyone here know a good source for early 30 items? Not missing much (since it will be getting the 455 from my 70 GTO bracket racer among other street rod items) but I will need some things such as a bezel for the left headlight, chrome moulding around the cowl, windshield crank/hinge parts, maybe a set of nice skirts, etc..... Any help out there?
This has been a very informative thread for the Chevy guys too, since there are so many similarities. Good to see it revived again.
I see that George....was hoping he would jump in here too! rick? Oh Rick? There was an old farm I went to years and years ago that is not too far from Rick. It was outside Paris TN nearer to the west side of Kentucky Lake. There were hills and 'hollers' of old 20's, 30's and 40's metal on this place. I don't really remember how to get there since I went with a buddy of mine that was buying a 37 Ford "Humpback" from the guy. I remember us buying it for $1250 and loading it on the trailer....then spending hours and hours walking this guys place. There were a multitude of old coupes and sedans of all makes scattered thru out the woods, but I really can't remember if a Pontiac was on the place......I did find my first arrowhead on this place and I still HAVE IT! So they may not have been "Pontiac" indians...but there had been "some" form of indians there at one time or another... Does anyone else here know of this place? I'd ask my buddy but lost touch with him years ago when we moved to FL from St. Louis.
I found this in the woods yesterday and after inquiring as to what it originally went to I was directed to this thread. Looks like its a 29 roof leftover after some kid made a homemade roadster many moons ago! By earthshaker5769 at 2010-10-31 By earthshaker5769 at 2010-10-31 I love the classy oval rear window. Not sure if any early Pontiac guys on here need this piece, but if you do, go ahead and contact me. I don't think I have a use for it at this point on my coupe, but I couldn't let it sit out there any longer. It would be great to find a loving home for it though.
reviving this old thread... My brother stumbled across two of these 30' 3Ws. One became his, one became mine for doing some work on his flat roof T. Gigantor was kind enough to give me a few patches of the above roof section. My brother robbed the windshield posts off mine for his... longshot, but does anybody have any 30' windshield posts? mockup post incase I HAVE to build some... I will build something classier if i can't find anything. you can see the dented passenger side rear roof skin. starting to get her to bare metal.
toreadorxlt, When you decide to build the classier posts. Make another set and I will buy them off you for my 29. Thats been holding me up for quite some time. As they were wood only covered by a metal trim piece
sorry for the lack of updates... holidays and selling my OT custom have kept me out of the garage for a while. I got down to my brothers house and took a bunch of detailed pics of the 30 windshield posts on his. I am going to build a set based off of that. Really waiting for the cash to come from my old car then i'll go crazy with my pontiac in a few months. I've been plugging away slowly at getting the roof fixed up though.
Canadian Landua Coupe. From the Look of the Rad Shroud it is a 29. If I remember the 30 has a narrower centre bar and top lines are less pronounced. Have Fun The Old Tinbasher
Hey good to see the old gang back here! And welcome to a few new 'primative-Pontiac' owners! I've converted totally over to the AACA crowd and have decided to build all my cars back as stock original cars... NAAAAAGGHHH! I'm still a rodder first but I do like me an antiquer ever now and then. However, sorry to say I have no updates to report for my projects-Pontiacs or Hudsons. Economy still has me down but I am working on that and WILL be back in the rod building business soon. I did however talk mama into letting me bring home a couple more projects last spring. I do mean projects in every sense of the word-two very rough but buildible '59 El Caminos. But, I'm ready to talk Pontiacs if anyone else wants to! Watcha guys doing on yours?
