whats wrong with driving your hotrod a lot--i put over 22000 miles on my 40 pickup since the 2nd week in april of 08 and all i get is bullshit from people---youre gonna ruin it--your gonna wear it out---its too good to drive---what is wrong with these assholes--i didnt build my truck to look at--i built it to drive & enjoy---and i am enjoying the hell out of it--having a ball with it--seems the guys giving all the shit are the ones that only use their cars for cruise nites or shows--I've had hotrods or customs since i could drive and always will have one.
THE WAY I LOOK AT IT IS WHETHER MY TRUCK IS WORN OUT OR BRAND NEW---MY WIFE IS GONNA GET THE SAME MONEY FOR IT WHEN I DIE---

My advice to others is enjoy your rod---dont save it for someone else

Just a terrible idea. Put it up on blocks in your garage or you don't deserve to own it.

  4. A slack jawed local car club guy once said to me as I was getting ready to do a burnout "yer not going to do that are you? You might break it"

To which I replied "hell I BUILT it so I should be able to fix it!"

I think that's the wrong question. The real question is "What's wrong with the people you've been associating with?"

People are funny that way, aren't they?! :D

A few years ago, when DIRTYT and I both got our Chevys on the road (a 49 and a 50), we were the only two cars who showed up at the local McDonald's cruise night, since the threat of heavy rain was looming near.

We didn't care...we'd just gotten our cars running and were tickled to be driving them!

Several people drove past and exclaimed warnings such as: "You'd better get those cars outta here...it's fixin' ta rain soon!"!!

We just laughed and said "They've been rained on for over 50 years...what's the problem now?!"

I drive my beater 64 'Camino that i have something like $3,000 into it as is, every day, it's gunna snow this weekend, i'll be driving it then too, need to get my daily running so i can fix some stuff on it though,

I look at it this way you can have 15 grand into a new car and it will be impossable to work on and only loose value, but an old car may still go down in value from wear and tear, but i can work on it and actually enjoy driving it. Best of all people like my beater rusted out 64 camino better than cars ten times it's value, in traffic you think people look at the new charger or mustangs ever??

I used to be with the Antique Motorcycle Club of America and they have a saying "Ride 'em don't hide 'em"

22K miles in 3/4 year? Are you driving while typing this? When do you even have time to talk to these people, much less build a hot rod and still get on the internet? Are you commuting to Boston for work?

Congrats on driving the crap out of it though. I agree, that's what they are for.

for the past 5 years all i had to drive was my rods. whether it be the 61 impala that sat maybe 3/4 off the ground cause i decided to torch the hell outta the springs, the 60 coupe deville or the studebaker. why have em it u dont enjoy em right? ya it puts alot of wear and tear on em to drive them rain snow sun dark hot cold but what do people think happend to them when they were new??? did good ol Dr. Brown go buy a brand new caddy or lincoln just to let it sit in the garage incase of rain?? hell no!!!
