Not bad at all, I'd love to see them do more shows like this.

Was it me? Or was the show lame? The producers took a fascinating subject and dumbed it down to a modified reality show. That announcer......those ads....the same crash, I lost count. Too Bad. I gotta go watch The Fastest Indian again.

it's always cool to see anything on Bonneville but they spent way to much time on crash's and commercials....

  7. No it's not you Rossodino. Having run there with 3 different 'liners and hung out with several roadster buddies, I know first hand how it is, and how shallow that show was. Too much concentrating on 4 teams, with too many shot repeated, and way to fast editing from car to car.

Rich, You are so right. I could not figure out whether the camera man was lame or this was some kind of annoying "hip" editing. I kept checking to see if I was on E!

I'm with you, I'd rather see anything on B'ville then a primetime sitcom. I also might not be a fan of the editing but I think the commericals were the usual 20 minutes out of the 60 total.

I liked it and am currently watching it again....beats a late night talk show and I already picked up a few things I missed first time around like the great front end shot of Hooleys orange stude.

Come on guys....This show was not aired for us!!!! The show, whether you like it or not was produced and aired to reach the "non" car folks out there!!!! We appreciate what it takes and we can get into the details! The mainstream viewer gets a taste and hopefully watched something that was new to them! Some of you guys must think that the world revolves around us!!! If you want a more detailed account of the flats, make your own movie!!!!

for the money spent, could have been better, but cool to watch if u never been there!!!!!!!!

  12. "The place where trying to make a speed record is not influenced by big money."
TV found NASCAR in the '70's. Bonneville still has cars and teams doing their dream on their budget for years before Bobby Isaacs blasted around Talladega at over 200 mph with factory backing.
Bonneville and Pikes Peak test beds for _____________ for how many years?
I hope we don't let TV us let Bonneville get as messed up as NASCAR went. I have a small dream to enjoy Bonneville as it should be this coming year or next in person.

I have not watched it yet, not on for another hr here, But if it seems kinda lame, if I remember from when we were talking to the guy that interviewed Chaz. they were not car guys at all, even told us so. Therefore you get it from thier perspective.

Uh, thats the problem. The general public gets an inaccurate view of a truly interesting subject. After watching that show some people could be writing to their representatives suggesting laws to protect us from our selves on the salt!

I, for one, enjoyed the show.... and I was there! Really, what do you expect? It's a mainstream TV show.

Yep, some scenes were shown more than once, and they may have catered to the masses with some of the coverage and storylines.... Did they have to cover Speedweek at all??? Nope... But I sure am glad they did.

  17. All I know is that gal that went 208 on an open bike, after getting busted up last year, must have some balls stashed somewhere!!!

TV just does not cut it. It never will.

...Troy sure threw down the gauntlet.

  20. Ok, so I have to ask. Right after the opening credits when they show the people from behind up at the line is that D's and Megan's backside? :D

this sucked for me. Our listing showed this show coming up at 9 but then Discovery showed "How things are made" instead. Showed how to make candy canes for crying out loud!

I could have swore I saw a familir red bubble topped hot rod cruising the salt right near the end of the show. Literally like the last 2 minutes.

Was it the Atomic Punk? did it make it to the salt? or was I just day dreaming?

I know what scene you're referring to, and no it was not. There were a number of times when we would have been just off camera at the start line. I'm bummed though with all the filming they did of the Old Crow team that there was only two short shots of the belly tank. Keeping my fingers crossed for more episodes soon.

I enjoyed it also and I was there too, Malcom you nailed it. Dale

  27. If they were filming for a week, there should be enough material for an 18 episode mini series., OR put together a huge DVD and sell it.

Of course that will never happen. There are a couple folks who do put together videos and sell them. Not as slick a production, but done by car guys for car guys (gals), and no repeats of crash footage.

Check Bonneville Racing News for contact info.

good program. Wish they would have not focused so much on just a couple people. WOuld have loved to see more variety but it is the Discovery Channel. Thats how they roll

some good footage, but the repeated coverage of the wrecks was kinda negative, epecially when fellow racers have lost their lives due to a crash.
I know the SCTA board would have been cringing every time they showed the crash scenes.
Plus the wife was watching with me,she thought the crash stuff was lame too.Now she's gonna be even more worried when I go racing.
    Anyway just my 0.02

    I enjoyed the show.

No doubt it would heve been better is there were more "traditional" cars, but it was better than anything else that was on TV at the time.

The blonde was nice to look at, and the fact that she came back to set a record was cool. It would have been nice if they went into more detail about the freakin motorcycle though and the dude that built it.

Maybe they have enough footage to do a little guys show.
