Rockford Illinois Area - HAMB on the Rocks

So we are going to try to keep this going and not interfere with Saturday and Sunday activities. We all know that the spring brings lots of things to do but we've been having a great time at HAMB on the Rocks when the weather was bad so for March we will change the day and the place.

HAMB on the Rocks for MARCH will be at 7:30 am on SUNDAY March 22nd at:

I've never been there but I heard they had great breakfast. It's on the west side of 251 off Hononegah Rd. (The road changes name from Elevator Road once you get West of 251). If you found the Firehouse Pub last time, Jessica's is North of there to Elevator Road, then West to Edgemere Terrace, then left on Edgemere Ct. (not even a mile from the Firehouse Pub).

FEBRUARY 21, 2009

The February edition of HAMB on the Rocks is set for noon on Saturday, February 21st, 2009 at the Firehouse Pub in Roscoe, IL.

And not that I am a competitive guy or anything, but my buddy Da Tinman down in Springfield had 19 attend their last meet so it would be great if we increased our attendance from last month's 16 folks. Not that he and I enjoy one-up-ing each other.... and not that they had weather in the 60's... nothing like that.

Joking aside, it will be great to see you all again next weekend!



JANUARY 17, 2009

OK, so its official, the first HAMB meet and greet in the Beloit / Rockford stateline area is on for Saturday, January 17th at Noon located at the Firehouse Pub in Roscoe, IL.

The Firehouse is located in downtown Roscoe just a couple of blocks off 251 at 10670 Main St. Roscoe, IL 61073 phone is (815) 623-8389.

You Wisconsin boys can exit in South Beloit toward 251 to avoid paying into our governor's legal defense fund.. er... the toll ways.

Nothing fancy, just a time to meet new folks, reconnect with old friends, and have lunch. Based on the turnout this month, we will decide as a group what to do next month.

So I've been thinking about seeing if there is any interest in having a Rockford area HAMB meeting (either for breakfast or lunch).

There is another thread running now that has responses from a number of hambers in the area so I thought I would post it now.

My buds in Springfield have started one and they have a real good time, and we know the Chicago one has been great for a long while.

Now that the weather has turned bad, and after the holidays I get stir crazy pretty fast. So I am looking for feedback on any interest, any places that would be a good meeting place, and what times people think would be best.

If we can come up with a place, date, and time, I will post an invitation for sometime in mid January.

would you consider moving it to Beloit? Could catch the Milwaukee, Madison, Janesville guys. Just my .02

Don't forget to post the dates and times on the Hamb & Eggs Social Club thread when you pin the details down, the Springfield, IL guys should do the same. Also that Farmer City group plowboy mentioned. A national HAMBreakfast directory is the goal.

If it turns out you have brunch or lunch there are some SW Chicago Hamb & Eggers that may try for a twofer some day soon. We're already talkn' about headin' to Springfield... they're late risers.

 

Yeah Larry, I'm pleasantly surprised at the number of interested folks. I especially think these activities are great during the "off season" when people are looking for something to get them off the couch.

So far it seems that the pattern is the second saturday so we might target that or the third Sat. Still I'm waiting for suggestions and interest posts. I was also thinking about making a day of it and hitting both Chicago and Springfield one time before spring. We will see. I will post on the Chicago thread as we have more details.

Hey now, I'm just sitting here minding my own business, how'd I get into this! That would be Bennett's Country Club for Smut & Eggs, but it's on the West side of Madison.

If you wanted to make a day of it shop tours would probably be popular too, if there's anything near the location. Just another random thought.

I have a difficult time making any Saturday morning gatherings. Unless I have to go to work, I don't get out of bed until 10 on the weekends. I may try to make the Farmer City meet this weekend depending on what happens Friday night.

Feel free to stop in on your way home from the bar though because I am probably still out in the garage at 2 in the morning. ha ha ha
