This all steel car was a real home built rig, that ran some decent numbers at times.

The Ramchagers 67 Dart remained competetive well into 1969 by means of it being campaigned by Danny Miller. Remaining in its original injected state, the car continued to do well in local mid west booked in shows and match races agaisnt theoritically faster blown cars.

This reminds me of a story told to me by a friend about Terry Cook's invitation to exhibit "Scrape" at a prestigious vintage cat show in Manhattan. On the day that the show ended and the cars were being driven out of the arena, a very dignified crowd was gather along the street and applauded as the Rolls and Bentleys drove by. When Terry got to the street, he put the hydraulics in action and gave then a show that must have been quite foreign to them.

Is there any info on the set-up and drive train for this awesome SS/K '66 Valiant (not too often you see a Valiant in Super Stock), and if there are anymore pics? Thanks Brian '65 HEMI Valiant

OT for a second… Do you know if Jaco Johnson had a hand in re-designing the body on this car? It sure looks like something he would have had a hand in…

is this dave lyall (sp) factory fiberglass falcon? :D

  15. Jocko didn't have anything to do with Knott's T bird. The bird was done in Knott's home state of Louisiana. The car is still in Knott's warehouse, exactly as it ran the last time it was on the salt. Check the Vintage Bonneville cars thread. Dave Mann posted some pics of the bird in it's current condition. Paint is somewhat the worse for over 40 years of neglect, but the car is still gorgeous. Ol' Knott still looks pretty good too.

Not 100% sure of the setup but an educated guess tells me that's a heavy J car with a 273/180hp in it. That's 3070# in K. Woah!

Here is the information your looking for.......

1966 Valiant 273/235 horse that ran SS/K! He went 10.97 in the 2nd round, not bad considering the weather conditions. That little 273 turned some r's on the launch.

    New Class Record:
    Matt Steen, SS/K, 10.68/125.40, '66 Valiant

This Dodge out of the Cotton Owens garage may be a NASCAR drag racer.
Note the altered wheelbase and absence of any roll bars!
You can see the NASCAR racer inside the doorway.

    It can't be 235hp in K. 235hp would make it a natural G car.

Well, you cannot debate the facts....... it runs in SS/K and has set the National Record.

Good old Fremont. Covered by big box warehouses and other stucco crap.

From the throttle butterfly position, it looks like a burnout in progress. According to Don Ewald at wdifl, the drivers looked down to keep VHT or rubber dust from getting on the goggles...or he's checking his fly.

The Mr "C" T/F car, I wonder if it's the same chassis that JJ had hanging on the ceiling at WCC that they used to make the "hot dog cart dragster" on MG! alot of people bitched about it getting chopped up, but it couldn't be certified because the tubing was too thin.

  29. It's a natural SS/K car. 12.30 factor. 12 lbs x 230 (NHRA factored hp)= 2760 + 170 for the driver= 2930 over the scales.

Cool car! (thanks for the pic)

    235 does not make it a natural K. K weight break is 16lbs. 12lbs is G.

I'm not disputing the class it runs in, just its factor. 66 2 door sedan 273/180 has a weight break of 15.6 which would make it a natural J car. Look it up.
