as you can see, I had a fetish for the "ASSASSINATION" cars... they were always so well detailed... but anything John Pugh did was very nice... he had a particular style, didnt he? i think i have a photo of the Hot Sauce car here somewhere as well was that out of Fargo? Dwayne Engness? (sp?)
Yea your right he was from N. Dakota. Guzman did have first class stuff. The Dart Sport body was painted by Ron Avers from Denver. Ron had his style also. I remember a guy bringing the body to Bandimere one night strapped to his crew cab pick up truck with a for sale sign on it $600.00 it still had Guzman's paint job on it. I wish I could buy it today for that.
anyone remember or have pics of a falcon with bored/stroked 427 belonging to mike that had a shop on west colfax? mid '70's. rememder when you could here him coming people would actually run from it! thought it was earthquake or planecrash. it was white i think, jacked up gasser. merry christmas...remember pearl harbor! romney-palin '12
That was Ron Schillereff. Ron bought that car new, took the 396 out and replaced it with a 427. The chevelle ran hard, in the mid 10's, that was hard to do back in the day! Ron was a first class racer, his chevelle and outher race cars were alway super clean, FAST, and perfect. To this day Ron still races at Bandimere in a 2003 Chevy "daily driver" that runs in the high 12's.
i'm getting home sick. i remember racin at Century 21 when i was jus 16 damn i thought my car was fast. it was a 56 chevy w 327, 3 speed and 513 posi. that ole car would lift the wheels lol not bad for a 16 year old punk.
Ratster, Here is a picture of Century 21... Before and after, It's hard to believe that this track never was reopened after it closed in the early 70's and it's still there today.
i always wondered what it looked liked before the vandals tore it up. the cops used to let us run there in the early eighties.
I remember that weekend at Indy, I booked all the cars in that weekend for the Good Guys....that was the first time ever for that many Nostalgia Funny Cars to assemble in one place. We had 10 Vintage Funny Cars on the property, we ran them Chicago Style , no breakage, no oil downs and the two finalist both ran in the 6 second zone at over 200 mph. It was a lot of fun. The Nostalgia Funny Car movement has sure grown sense then.
I always wondered also. I thought it was torn down years ago. I have herd storys of the street racing that went on there in the 80's from my dad.
it was cool. i remember one time this dude street raced a cop in his patrol car. my buddy and i would take our 56 chevys, both primer gray mine 1 2dr sedan his was 2dr hardtop
