Finns became a walmart which put the Kmart next to it outta business, then the walmart closed down & opened as a 'super" walmart off 95 at exit 7!!Weird circle i guess.
The Junkyard on division st is still there the one that was across form the "RI dessert"

  5. Red I believe has passed on, I sold a Skylark carcass to one of his sons a while back. Yard is nothing like it used to be, either. Hard to believe there could be two guys named Red with cars of that magnatude.

..and you have tragedy like Australia just experienced where folks decided they really needed to live amongst gum trees and the greens pushed for legislation to prevent clearing etc. 208 is the latest toll and the fires are still burning two weeks later.
    Back to the topic.
Looking at cars parked for any length of time under pine trees is a waste of time. The pine needles (as can be seen in the pictures) eat steel .The process is irreversable so not too many panels on the older stuff will be of any use. I have seen enough gearboxes, diffs, beam axles eaten by that stuff to just ignore it today.

Anybody remember the KAISER-FRAZIER dealership at Cool Springs, VA, or Blondies (Pilson Auto Parts) and Clyde Turner's up the mountain toward Stuart, VA?

Yeah so I was in Jr's Yard 2 weekends ago and let me say this, "DAMN" minimum of 200 acres of beautifulness!!!!! Cant wait to go back. He walked us thru about 50 or so acres of it looking for galaxie bumpers. One of the coolest places on EARTH. Sorry to dig up an old thread

We have been to Oz and we have met the Wizard....this place is UN-FRIGGIN' REAL.....Chuck and I got a guided tour for at least three or four hours from the man himself and we didn't cover 10% of it! Ever see the movie "Wrong Turn"? It's beyond huge (20,000 cars or more - really!) and full and the newest stuff is 80's. I ran a yard in RI that had 1100 cars in the woods and it was a drop in the bucket compared to this place . It makes the hair on your arms and neck stand straight up from the excitement of the history. We paid him $20 just for his time. He's an oddball for sure...

Going back in March when the jungle around the cars is more tame....

does anyone have JR's number? i want to take a trip there this weekend, and want to explore his collection with permission. because i've been looking to do exactly something like this, involving a massive collection of classic cars hidden within the wilderness. but i don't want to just show up after driving two hours and see if i can find him somewhere in the two hundred acres of land that he owns, and discover that he is nowhere to be found.

yes it still exists and yes the guy is a nutcase. i've heard he's gotten worse recently. there's likely no hope for anything that exists there.

goodluck because he hardly sells anything...so i've heard from quite a few people. This is not the type of place you even want to think of tresspassing on. I hope someday; some of it finds a home.

Jr's a good friend and a nice guy. If he thinks your not being honest or you just rub him the wrong way your out of luck. You can buy stuff from him, but he charges. If you mention your heard about him on the internet your out for sure. Some ass went through the yard years ago, took a shit load of pics and then listed his stuff on e bay. He didn't like that, therfore he doesn't like computers, or anyone that mentions them. The yard is in fact a monster, but the one mentioned is one of his 3 yards. I've been through all of them many times, unfortunatly the collection has rotted down to basically outside trim and interior stuff. There are few serious muscle cars stuffed in some old school busses, and he has over 100 militarty muliti fuel engines brand new in sealed boxes. For the most part though, it just really all too far gone. But if you catch him on the right day, it's great to see everything. You'll nedd a 4x4, and should bring a 30 pack of bud. Funny thing is while walking the yard it's completly littered with empty bud cans. DEFINATLY DO NOT try going in after dark, or without permision. You'll get shot for sure. He has 4 guys that are "off the radar" living in the yard that keep an ear out, and there are homade alarms set all over the place.

he is a nice guy and lots of great cars and trucks.
but not easy to try to get a car when he is asking 10 time wish car you want and you keep repeating your self over and over.
I have to agree, he love is bud wiser, lol.
I was even thinking next time i go, i will bring him a 6pack.

As stated above, a 6 pack won't do much. A 30 pack is more the requirment.
