Hey, guys, check out this link. Don't let the Australian label fool you on their index, just click on and enjoy the video. Sprinters hanging it out at Williams Grove, and champ cars at Langhorne. Notice the flagman working the inside at WG. There's hardly any thrill like that, standing out there while the car comes out of the turn with the nose pointed right at you as the driver rides the cushion.

You'd be AMAZED at how many different guys built Quick-changes. I'll get in touch with my Q/C guru.. He has 99% of them filed in a BIG book with pictures.. He eventually wants to write a book on them.

    ---------------

    On a side note.

Two more Shaw Specials are out the door! Shipped the one to Cali in a big crate, was cheaper than I thought! Use "Forward Air"... (Sorry Roy, probably the enemy!:D)

...and today, the Hadley crew came from Detroit and picked theirs up.

now, on to the new one on the table. The "Ratkee/Miller Salt Flat Special"

    (Pics soon to come)

    Great stuff guys!!

My first car, called the Peters Offy and driven by Horn, Joie Chitwood, Hinnerschitz, Warke, and others, had a weird quick change center section which i had never seen before. It didnt last long; blew apart at Syracuse. We replaced it with a Halibrand.
The different part was that the quick change section was on an angle! It was kinda tilted with the top toward the right.

Spike, I think this was a Progressive Rear end. My dad's midget had one.

I just joined so I could share these pics. I inherited this from my Dad and now I need to sell it. The only info I have is:

1940's Dirt track car. Mostly early Ford running gear.

1933 Ford Model C engine with Riley 2-Port F Head, Dayton wires, 3 valves per cylinder, 4 inch bore.

Some people are interested in it but I don't want to sell it too cheap! I don't even know what to call it or how to advertise it. Any thoughts?

If you want info on this car call Rick Stewart in Phx. 602-268-6296 he can fill you in. I tripped over this car many times when I worked there. I thought about buying it a couple years ago but still racing here in Indy so no time right now. I guess I should sell all my stuff and get a vintage car.

Looks like it could be a Viking Craft from the late 50's / early 60's.

I am sorry to hear of Richards passing. I met him in 1959 at the quarter midget nationals in Tulsa. We had just swithched from a Wahlborg(sic) to a Mantz and ran A Modified. Richards closest competition in AA Open was Mike Chicarela (sic), who was running a Solt/ Continental in a Grand Prix car. Mike actually got the lead from Richard when Shoji was involved in a minor wreck
(dented the front of that beautiful car.) However, Richard got the lead back with a few laps to go when Chicarela blew his motor. I belive it was Revel (sic) who actually issued a model of Shoji's car in the early 60's.

I have no notes to tell me the drivers in these pics I believe were taken at Trenton, N.J. The last pic doesn't fit the rules of this thread, '73 and micro midgets, but, I'm driving the #53, at Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway. Many eastern racers of the late '60s and beyond have started their careers there. Oh and yes I was makin' the pass, and sadly this is the only photo I have from my only season of micro racing.

That is a beautiful car. I don't know about pricing it, but you won't have any problems selling it.

Looking at these 2 pics, obviously a roll bar has been added at Trenton. I seem to recall reading that N.J. auto racing was under the control of the govt. and roll bars were required to race there. Is that correct?

36 Chevy? maybe. A street legal hot rod, built like a 60s-70s east coast modified stock car. It was featured in Hot Rod magazine about a year or so ago, I belive.

The N.J. State Police does have safety rules for race cars and tracks. I'm not sure when they began this, but, I'm thinking the state began the program in the '60s. Could it be the roll bar was installed as a result of the fatal crash?

The Hillegas car at Flemington in 1967. My first win came that day.

I agree with all of Mlight9 assessment of ron Kramers pictures. The Aggie/Parnelli car is circa 1961-1963. I believe its 1962.

When Trenton had its first race on pavement, in 1957, all cars had roll bars, per Trenton State Police orders. Even the midgets had roll bars as well, before mandated in 1959 by USAC and ARDC in the east.

Thanks, guys for the info on those photos. I'm just a bit young to know all those things. I inherited a half ton of old slides taken by a relative, some of the stuff I can guess some I can't. I've enjoyed all the pics everyone has posted here and a thanks to all.
