Event Coverage STUGOTS R going to Texas-where should we stay?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Groucho, Dec 22, 2008.

  1. We're talkin about checking out the Roundup. Where's the best place to stay for cars/people hanging out before and after the event? Does anyone have blocks of rooms that they might have a spare?
What can anyone tell me about the Austin Motel on Congress? Clean? Near the action? Anything?

Lots of info on the LSRU site:
    http://www.lonestarroundup.com/lodging.html

If you can't find a room on S. Congress Ave, I'd try to stay as close as possible. That's where most of the night-time cruising and hanging out happens....
It's not a bad cruise to get to the actual car show, from there.

  10. Just to give you the low-down.
The Stugots and the Snugglers have this, longlasting feud.
They usually settle the matter over a "dance-off", the Snugglers usually win, the Stugots team, keeps on challenging them.
If the Stugots go to Texas, I'm sure they will, try to challenge the Beatnick's, the Them and the Knowbody's for a "dance-off".
I can't wait to this showdown.
PS: It will be fun to hang with you Groucho, in Texas:D:D:D

  11. So, you're going?
    Driving?
    Been there before?
If yes, I'd like to pick your brain over lunch someday

  12. Yes, I was there this year, Coby and I stayed in some, chain hotel out side the cool area.
Congress Street/blvd? is the shit, bitchin' restaurants, hotels, clubs etc. you probably wont get a room in the groovy area, anymore, all booked years in advance, just like Paso, was.
The round-up is really good, but the Texans like to show up late, no 5am lines there, people stroll in at 8-9am, lot's of trailers, blowers and rat rods too. But, if you look beyond that, the quality of cars are real high.
I can't wait to go again.
If my coupe is done and safe, I will drive, with a handful of guys, from Socal. If not I'll fly. No matter what, I'll be there.

We have a group leaving early wed morning heading there on the 10.

The congress hotels are really hard to get into unless you have an in!

We'll have to have a west coast H.A.M.B. meet there, as well as the national meet!

PmM me if you need any info on the route.

Almost any place you pick around the South Congress area will be fine. You don't need to be in the San Jose or the Austin to have a blast. Now that Steve has chosen a less crowded weekend, you really can't go wrong.

Do not stay at the motel 6 .Unless you like bugs that crawl on the walls and really stained carpet .They did have a armed guard we always wondered what had happened to cause that .My 2 cents
