    HAHAHA, thats too funny!

  4. Wow! I got an idea! Why don't we just come up with a new label? Oh some thing like.......Custom Traditional? I mean WTF????? Discussions like this will never be solved. We all have our own opinions and tastes. I know what I like and what I don't like. I also know what is a piece of crap and dangerous and shouldn't be on the road. But that's a different story for a different day.

Why Custom Traditional? No such thing right? OK, I know I can't put these cars in the same category as say, the Little Deuce Coupe, or any other of the many custom roadsters/coupes/sedans that ran customized grilles that were anything other then traditional. But no one here trashed them when they first came out.

Then there are the customs. Geez, some of them still make my stomach turn but as car guys we hold them up in high esteem because of the work that went into them.

That is basically what I am talking about. I like Traditional but like the green rod, I think that grille looks good because of the headlights. Makes the whole package flow.
The same goes with DREADMAN's ride. It's not Traditional but it is cool.
Does it belong on the HAMB????????? You tell me.

Rat Rods? SUCK. Anyone that treats a car of any vintage without it's due respect and leaves it in rust, cuts, slices, dices, chops, sections and leaves it all exposed to weathering doesn't deserve to be called a Rodder. Where is your respect of what you say you love? Would you treat your wife the same way? Just something else I don't understand.

    Rat Rods are not Traditional.

    Rant over.

  5. Just one thing, people seem to be blurring the line between an opinion and what is traditional.
Opinion has absolutely no place in traditional, either it is trad or it isn't. There are no blurred lines here.

Now for an opinion of what is good and what is bad? No one can win that, everyone has their own opinion.
Just dont try to press your opinion of whats traditional on us. We know what is an isn't. Some of you dont seem to get that.
    Doc.

As a youngster, I was taught that anything put together or stripped of weight to make it go faster was a hot rod where I grew up. Later Paint became as important as what made the car go. Now someone thinks that paint is what makes a hotrod. The only difference I see between a hotrod and a ratrod is paint. It is a good thing that Detroit Had designers who redid grills and fenders etc. or we would all be driving the same color car, hotrod, ratrod, or pickup truck. Diversity is what brings on creativity.

  7. Heck yes! Diversity brought us such things as NAMBLA and Man/Goat sex...............gotta be alright don't it?:D

yes please close. This has again turned into someone legitimately looking for info or pics to help them and the thread police show up and take it over griping and bitchin about what is and isnt traditional. I do not believe the original question was "are tractor grille shells traditional". I kept following this thread because I kinda like 'em and wanted to see a few. Too bad that didnt happen here.

Then you are one of the few lucky enough to have NOT seen one of the silly, unsafe pieces of junk that is known as the rat rod.

  12. You couldn't be more,,,,,WRONG, over 90% of the rat rods I've seen, wouldn't make it half way down the drag strip without coming apart at the seams, let alone pass any "real" state inspection. If building a POS is cool or as some of you would spell it KEWL, I'd have to ask you this, when is it kewl to drive something on the open road that is no more than a death trap, not only taking a chance on killing yourself but anyone else on the road?

    That's my rant,
    I think I'll go have a beer.

Agreed. Bad craftsmanship is what makes a rat rod, not lack of paint.

  26. The man asked for pictures, not opinion.

  27. For HAMBers not being into tractor grilles, this thread has sure been at the top the last three days. Somebody must be into them. I think they are fucking trad and redonkulous at the same time. If there were some reehaws back in the old days building hotrods on the ranch, you know that shit would have a sweet tractor grille on it.

ive seen em on rods in pictures from the fifties. and i have seen thousands with the plain old shell imo i like the tractor shells that ross grill is frickin slick man. makes it look like a different car.ya it has to be proportioned well and flow with the lines but who gives a shit if they think it was traditional or not. as for the spider webs and skull stuff that is "ratrod" and dont belong here. cant we all just get along????

I guess H A M B stands for Hard Ass Member Bashing. I really like this forum but there sure are alot of herds of sheep on here. Do what I do are it's not cool. Gimme a break. Thats why there's thousands of styles of cars, thousands of styles of wheels and so on and so on. Because people have different tastes. If we all had the same tastes, I'd be banging your fat nasty wife. Open up your closed pewny minds for once. HMMM,land of the free. Proud to be an American.
