Is it just me or does the whippet grill look like a tractor grill? T guys love those. And there is nothing traditional about non fords like a 26 Chrysler. Mopars were not picked up by mainstream until the 70's. By then they had jag rears and the likes. I like my cars to look like resto rods. And why does it have to look like a car that was Photographed and well documented to be traditional? What about all the cars that never made the Magazines?

I can't afford a tractor grill but I have these so I am going to do a Train Rod but I haven't decided which one is more traditional what do y'all think? Should I go with the yellow or the red which more traditional?? Does anybody have any pictures of train rods using Boat Grills?

lot of talk .... little pictures?

I think the look is pretty cool and different.

Im no old schooler... and Im young... but to me hotrodders are a breed of guys who share their individualism with the world through their rides.... Rebeling against the norm... If owning a custom has guidelines and rules.... then is it really custom? wouldnt it simply be a normal hotrod.

I can't believe this waste of a thread hasn't been shut down yet:rolleyes: So I'll contribute to the insanity with a before and atfer pic of HAMBer Fast Eddie's bucket. The Farmall grille looked okay but I think the car looks a lot better with just the T style radiator.

Since I'm providing pictures I get to opine as well:D It never ceases to amaze me how many new guys around here just don't get it. before rust2rich starts banging away at everyone's fat nasty wive's, (that's a pretty stupid fucking thing to say) Maybe you and others need a refresher. Everybody here knows there are thousands of different styles of cars and wheels. Way to go, I'll bet not much gets past you. But only a select few of those styles are HAMB friendly.

This isn't a "big tent" everybody's welcome regardless of subject or style thing going on here. The HAMB is the biggest site for traditional hot rods and customs. It's not closed minded to be guided by tradition, it's what makes this site special and not just another car website. However, assuming everyone that doesn't share your viewpoint has a fat nasty wife in need of some banging does represent a very pewny mind.

This is exactly how i feel!! If you check back in my posts you'll see that this has been a bitch of mine since about 2002!! But before i was always told "back off loser"!lol
I agree with one thing, someone with a little metal skills can get one to look great. But don't go sticking the orininal ememble back on it!!Shit i think you can probably use a old refrigerator door to make a grill shell that looks like a 32 shell( theres a idea).
I'm glad the attitude on here of "if its differant its cool" is finally dissappearing.
    thank you jesus!!
    JimV
PS if ya want to see something funny check out my "first" post in 2001 , I asked about "olds" valve covers on a SBC!!!! OMG did i ask the wrong thing!!lol

i always liked " I want to slip a S-10 frame under my Model A 4 dr sedan, with a Allis-Chamber grill, with Olds Valve covers over my SBC, tractor seats & wal-Mart after market trailer lites with 1973 honda 550 directionals!!" Would that fall in to "traditional" Or "Rat rod".And everyone answers like it a normal question!! But this runs up everyones tempers!!lolololololol
    JimV
PS then they ask "will the stock AC compressor handle the bigger cab of the sedan"!!

I agree..... I have seen alot of cars that are not built like rat rods that are unsafe....Lack of craftsmanship is a problem in this hobby some people don't have the skills to build a safe car some aren't smart enough to know its unsafe........lack of paint doesn't make a rat rod , even if you paint them some cars look like shit ....they just look worse with tractor grilles........

  14. Here are some I have for sale.......OK I am doing something wrong this morning......click on my webshot page for tractor grilles......stan

I'd use one. I agree they aren';t all created equal, but some are pretty great looking. And I sure as hell don't buy the arguement that they aren't traditional. Just because I can't point to one in a magazine, doesn't mean it wasn't done. Car parts come from whereever you need them to come from.

    Great thread, great pix.

Oh, let's stir some more.. here's a pic of mine. It matched the picture in my head when I built it.. but it is scheduled for some refinements (bodywork, paint, upholstery..) soon if I don't just sell it and build another... criticize away. Thanks to whoever took the pic at the hamb drags...

  20. This is a part of my own post that the bashers got closed down because it must have hit to close to home. HATERS!!

"So I guess Gene Winfield, George Barris, Ed Roth, Bill Hines and all the other builders out there from the old days are outcast and should NOT be on this site---because they did things different. Unlike alot of people around here that are just copying ideas and cars that were popular back in the day."

I think you have to take many of the comments with a pinch of salt. They are merely opinions. Tractor Grills, Chopped Tops, Billet Wheels, blah blah blah, it's all a statement.

Some people will lick your hand, others will want to hurl. It's all about who you want to hang around with. If all your friends like Tractor Grills, Billet wheels, or Chopped Tops, then you shall be licked to death.

In the end, it's your culture, and everyone else can ________________.

If I told you that I'd have to kill you, just think of them as farm boy divco's..... Probably the only set in existence. Come on, you can figure it out.. just continuing with the farm boy builds a lakester theme...

Welcome to the HAMB, if you don't want opinions, don't post.

Not only an ass, but the idiot can't spell. Try puny next time.

Hmmmm... there's far more wrong than just the tractor grill, though the it looks much better with the real grill. The motorcycle tires are idiotic. The side walls are not made to handle the side loads of a car. Anyone want to tackle the rest. Nice first post....
