[FONT=&quot]Would this be the right place for a fng to ask what the “H” and the “A” in H.A.M.B. stand for?

That above quote by Kirk is exactly what I was thinking today concerning this post. It's actually a lot like when todays "traditionalists" rallied against the street rodders 10-15 years ago because they "didn't understand". It's not a dis either way- just hit me that now that trad is "mainstream" the outsiders have just moved further to the extreme.

I've been on this board since 2001- It's be a traditional board since day one and the newbies do seem to be taking a hold of it and twisting what traditional hot rods are...

    Tractor shells suck-
    Disc brakes are lame-
    Center bolt sb chevys retatded-
    Radial tires are for wimps-

Search the web... Kill billet and the OSK board would love a tractor shell post.. That what they like... The HAMB is about traditional hot rods... Ask anyone who has been here longer than a year...

There is a reason that a deuce shell looks great in front of a 29 ford and if you don't get why keep looking you'll find it...

  11. Well said JimA, I've had similer thoughts recently. However, there are those who are on the outside because they see things a little differently and then there are those who are on the outside because they think it's cool to be an outsider. The latter will never "get" that it's about the cars and not some kind of cultural statement.

The funny thing is that there have been rat rods from day one, (that does not make them traditional btw.) But people didn't build them on purpose. If a car was what we now call a rat rod it was because it was built from crap by some hack who thought he had was building something worthwhile. In recent years it has become fashionable in certain circles to build the crap that used to get a guy laughed at. Even some guy's who have mad fabricating skills are building cars that looks like crap on purpose, that I don't get.

To me, the thing about tractor shells is that 99% of them you could never made look good on a traditional style rod. The remaining 1% would have to be in the hands of the 1% of the guy's in the world who posses the skills to do it. For instance, I have no doubt that plowboy could do it if he fo desired and it would no doubt look as traditional as everything else he ever built.

Oh hell I'm rambling, Nyquil must have kicked in.

I'm just posting from some of my pics I've taken in the last couple years for everyone's viewing pleasure. Not all tractor grills, but equally ingenious.

I know that too well. I think it's just really hard at this point to police out what you helped create. That goes for anyone who thought it was cool to rally against the "mainstream" rodders a decade ago. Now many of those original movers and shakers have hooked up with MAJOR shows, suppliers and magazines- but their fringe members continue pushing the limits. There's no reason to fight or debate this for 12 pages- it's just how it is. You aren't going to find a new hobby and either are they so just get used to it and enjoy the car in your garage or driveway. If you don't like something is there any reason to get so spun out?
Same goes for the self deputized police force- before you start writing up tickets can you PLEASE send EVERYONE a copy of the rule book so they know what they are up against? ;) ;) ;) ;) lots of smileys- just a light-hearted opinion.

But the question still remains, "Are tractor grills sponge worthy?"

Tractor Grills are like Robin Egg Model-A's... :p

  19. Would someone photoshop a 32 grill shell on my truck? I want to see if every thing really does look better with a 32 shell on it. Thanks!
    Later,

Can I post another pic of mine? makes about as much sense as what some of you are saying... oh what the hell, how about a video???

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/PRIIOWQCPT8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PRIIOWQCPT8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Here's my take. If you put on a tractor shell because you think it's cool (or for supposed "shock" value)... and it does not flow with the rest of the car.. then don't. When I built mine, i mocked up the shell and the cowl, then built the frame and the rest of it around it... That's why it has a hood, and will soon have hood sides to match.

The Genie is NOT going back in the bottle! Just got my NEW Rebel Rodz- the thing fell open right off to a full feature on a tractor grilled A- also plenty of cars on the ground and Volkswagens too (pages 32 & 92 stand out)- same for Amusin' Kruisin'. Police force- looks like your gonna need backup! ;)

  22. I still want to see what a 32 shell looks like on my truck.

  29. Wish I could do photo shop. I would hook it up!! I think there are more 32 shells and even 32 ford for that matter than Henry ever built! You do know 32 shells and small block chevys go together to be "correct".

  30. Can you put a tractor grill on there also so we can all pick which one we like?
