I would like to thank the trad police they are the ones i aim my questions at. I do not have a hotrod family tree.I want my car to look traditional and different and i think it can be done. I have seen it done but i aim my questions towards the police to keep me on track
now I post manny questions on here as to what would be considered traditional and I allways get this answer "it's your car build it the way you wan't to." and it frustrates me the trad guys that either lived it or studies it like a preacher studies the bible.won't answer to avoid arguments like this or i get answers via pm.
I say thank you to those who stick to your guns and try to keep it a traditionaly based site.

Maybe I don't get it, but I wouldn't describe this as ugly. It may not be "traditional" but I do think it would fall into the "kustom" category and is definitely a good looking rod with a lot of creative parts on it. But hey, what do I know... I'm just a FNG. I've always liked different cars going back 20 - 25 years ago when I bought my A because it was cheap. Back then As were throwaways, everyone wanted a duece.

  17. Holy Shit 15 pages and 4 tractor grilled hot rods. I'm only 66 but tradition over the years has been guided by the Magazines we read. I didn't like fad T's (had one with a tunnel ram, not traditional and had a blast.) didn't like the mini bikes, vans, go carts, jacked up 55 chev's and every other new fad that came down the pike. looking back I still don't like most of those things. but when every one was crying about Hot Rodding dying with all the ricers, turbos foreign everything, I was happy to stay doing my own thing. and when this anti billet came in I loved it. and I remember all the rat bikes, limey and harley's of the early 60's were awesum so when this rat rod name came along it was a breath of fresh air. an extension of everything I remember. I think the sport/hobby is safe for another generation.
I was one of the first to get kicked out of school in the 50's with a mohawk. got sent home in the 5th grade after collecting 50 cents for putting green food color in my then blond hair. never in my lifetime have the majority accepted change.
Dare to be different (jag suspended 57 buick?) build it to suit yourself.
I came on this board during the flame wars with the old RRT 98-99 the big issue was someone "didn't get it!" some things never change

show me the the tradition of disc brakes and mustang ll's how do we put up with all the S-10 AD's or any other modern improvment. I think anyone that only the purist among us should be able to cast the first stone

Oh hell yeah...........4 doors WITH tractor shells ......

  19. here is a gold chain (not really) but it was built to mimick the current trend. but started with a pristine original unrestored car that was stripped of eveveything and that is a roush stroker motor that has truck valve cover to clear everything and then painted with a spray can. this car is safe fast and has every hokie thing to have fun (make fun) of this current trend. the owner has a choice of many different cars and always seems to go for the modest cars. so I was really suprised when this one was built

Needs more skulls & spiderwebs. And why is it not chopped, channeled and sectioned? You could fit a friggin' elephant in there! ;)

  21. Dadgum let's go tractor tipin! Save for the tractor shell I like it, go figure. I don't really see anything hokie except the grill.

  22. D-a-y-u-m! That thing looks like an old drunk with a red nose! Why the fuck would you build a car to be ugly?

Lol, I didn't know I was being different. But you can't see it. More often than not I have to point it out. But it handles well, stops on a dime, and doesn't detract from the otherwise righteous looks of the car.

  24. Damn, I liked my truck with the duece grill. I was really surprised at how good it looked. Thanks for the photo shop.
    Later,

As many of you can tell, I'm a big fan of the, "don't ask, don't tell, it's okay if you can't see it" crowd...

I think a lot of other people are down with this, too. But the tractor grille you can see, and that turns a lot of people off. You can most certainly have a hot rod, traditional or not, with a tractor grille on it, but as having one tradidionally screams "rat rod/pos" I think that's where the judgements and bias come from.

A traditional rod, done with a tractor grille, but painted and finished probably would't be singled out. It's just the glut of shitily done cars with rusty tractor grilled that have flooded the magazines on newsstands that fuels the bias...
