Took me a week to get through it, but you guys have assembled a real treat. Here's a small addition:

I first saw a pic of this car in a Drag Racing book I found in my grade school library in the late '60's. I've been in awe of unusual and unpredictable cars ever since. I swear, this guy looks cooler than Steve McQueen on his best day.

I never really knew a whole lot about the Skip Hess Mustang AA/GS car until my boss bought it in the mid '80's. It was very nearly complete right down to the Hannah tinwork, needing only paint and an SOHC 427 to look like this. The last owner had bracket-raced it with a BB Chevy (?) and painted it yellow.

The Skip Hess car as it appears today. Not much left of the original chassis, both ends have been changed and the original cage and beautiful Hannah aluminum is gone.

I know, it's awfully modern, but it makes me feel good on a cold December night. For all the politics and cubic dollars, drag racing is STILL the best sport going. If you're a circle-track fan, you gonna get this close to Jimmie Johnson's 48 car on race day? When the NHRA circus comes to town, I get up early, make the three hour drive to Sears Point and see my heroes all day long and come home sunburnt and smelling of nitro. I can think of worse ways to spent a day...

That '66 Dart is the last race car I saw Faubel with. I know he's been around some of the reunions in the last few years; anybody know why he stopped racing when he did?

Ed-Parachute-Potter later became a pro-golfer after walking away from the modified fuel roadster wars. As for the Revell Kit, ironically, there was never a kit offered by Revell. The car debuted in 1968 and raced well into the mid seventies when it was sold off. The orange Molly paint job was detailed and beautiful

B&W photos dont do this car a favor. It was gorgeous with deep, multi hued Molly metal flake paint job. Too bad it burned up at the AHRA Winternationals in Pheonix

That is the way a Drag Strip should look........no signs and the crowd up against the cars. Where you can feel the burnt rubber hitting your face.

You have some great pics of the years I like best. Would you happen to have one of Dick Landy's 65 Dodge ? All I have is one of it , after he sold it, that I took at San Fernando. Thanks

Saw Arlen Vanke at Las Vegas in April at the Mopar Show. Looks good, the car is restored and I have some pictures of it, but I'm new to this so I need to find out how to post them.

Actually, Jim's doing quite well; he took Josh Hernandez to the Jeg's Pro-mod challenge championship in 2008 and nearly took the ADRL championship as well. In 2009, he only plans to do the ADRL series.

Based on the filled in grill and straight tube axle, would it be safe to say that this is a UDRA/NASCAR Ultra Stocker?

Is it true the Dutchman roof did not intentionally suppose to look that way?
