They are simply backed up in ***embly and selling them in pieces because it still generates cash flow while still moving parts inventory. The Brookville boys dont miss a trick. Nice stuff!!

I am new to the 32 stuff but that EBAY deal listed is something I would stay away from. 15 sales and no auto related parts. The picture looks copied about 20 bad times. Also wouldn't you have better pics of the ***embly and actual product???

If guys are charging different amounts to ***emble some can be the economics of doing business in their area or quality. Anybody can eventually get one together but I would ***ume the better are resistant welded and properly lead finished not plug welded with a mig welder.

I am just throwing out the ideas as I am interested in finding out the differences myself?? I am sure there are plenty of cancelled orders as there are tons of projects showing up for sale. Luxury items are the 1st to go!

  3. I went with "ReproSteel", paid cash up front, supposed to recieve the completed body in less than a year, year came and went, still no body, was quote "retooling the dies" another year came and went, still "retooling the dies", still another year came and went, "Still retooling the dies" more time p***ed, Lars would not return my E Mails or phone calls. Still no roadster, so gave them an ultamatem, body in 60 days, or return the $8500.00 I had paid, still no body, 30 days later, got my money back and went to Scandinavin Hot Rod, had my roadster in 11 days from the time I dropped off the frame. It will be on the road soon. I am not aware of anyone that ordered a RP body ever recieving their body.
I would be very careful when dealing with ReproSteel if you want a timely body, hopefully they have got all there "Retooling issues" done. IMHO, Lars just didnt give a damn about the US market. Had enough business elsewhere.

    :D :D

OK ... that makes sense ...
They built it with Brookville parts and are trying to sell it and make their labor ... :)

I guess some of the others I have seen were bought thinking they could maybe sell them to someone who did not want to wait the year or more that the Brookville deposit line was. I knew guys who did that a good bit with Harley Davidsons back in the 2000/2001/2002 era when there was a line to get a new HD.

I think they are a good deal if you can afford one. Back in 2003/2004 ... I was thinking I would have to put a deposit down on one with Brookville when they finally made them available. :) Then I finally talked the man out of the original one I now have. Ironically, He sold me mine because he figured that the availibilty of the new 3W bodies from Brookville would drive the value of his ... way down. He decided to sell before that could happen :D

You were 30 years old when you bought yours. I was 30 years old when I bought mine ... I really hope I am still driving mine when I get to be your age ... :D

I will drive the roadster and the wife can drive the 3W ;)

    Really, its called business.
You order parts to ***emble a body for 1/2 the price of an ***embled body. You ***emble the body and put it up for sale a few thousand under the going rate, and have it available instantly. Someone buys the body, you made the difference between what the selling price and what you bought the parts for, divided by the time it took you to ***emble. I'm expecting that is a pretty decent hourly rate. How many hours would you work for 10G?

The buyer now has 2 options, he can finish the car himself, or he can hire someone to finish (or partically finish) the car for him. If he decides to hire someone to finish the car, its already at your place, he may hire you. More oppertunity to make some money.

Is it really that hard to figure out? Gene

Well Randy show me a hobby that aint expensive? Yup my new radio was 2625.00 But i already have a license and my home owners will cover the insurance and there in virtually no maintenance and i just wipe the dust off occasionally ... And its not near as expensive as building a nice car... :) Ill be back one of these days building a car thats if i can afford the pieces parts to do it when i get ready.. You guys that got in real early did good on your investments as far as 32's go.. Ive been in and out of the hobby a couple times and yup the divorce kills everything.. Anyway back to the cars.. If I felt like building another right now I think the deals are out there to be had on steel repro bodys.. If prolly shooting myself in the foot by not buying now and storing one but i dont have a place to store it.. Then again it aint easy being stupid i practice...

    Dave ... :)

None really ... my wife says the only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys.

I played with some Yaesu and Drake stuff, 80 foot free standing tower , tail twister ... the usual stuff. I started in 10 meter :) and then moved on over to the good stuff. I guess I just got burnt out ... sort of like you did with the 32 thing.

I am about that way now with the Harley Davidson thing ( I know you ride also ). I always keep a 32 around ... and have for over 30 years. I just get sidetracked every now and then by something new and different.

Randy I dont wanna throw this thread off track but someday when im to old to do anything else ill still have the radio stuff to play with.. My first rig was a knight t-150 transmitter and a heath kit receiver:) oh them was the days Ha ha.. Im re learning morse code.. I was at one time 35wpm send and recieve and id like to get back there. You never forger the code but without practice you sure get slow..:)... So maybe you could pm me.. Did you give up the license? As in never renewed? Im really amazed how many ham ops i see building cars and riding motorcycles.. I just worked a guy yesterday in colorado that was a big time ham and also a bike rider.. Makes a good QSO.. And for the m***es that think Ham radio is dead with the internet it actually makes it more interesting...
Dont wanna turn this into a ham non Hamb thread :)... I may have to do an O/T thread and see who is on the air here...
Keep the 32's they are fun too

    And no side windows???

That is just not the case. All Dearborn Deuce "roadsters" have windows, power windows, in fact! If you get a little chill in the evening, you flip up the top and power up the windows which seal very nicely aginst the top. Then you turn on the heater. Ahhhhhhhh, all the niceties of a closed car and the sensational appearance of a roadster. If I only had the money...

Somehow it just wouldn't be right. I remember my first ride in a Henry roadster, got soaked and couldn't get rid of the smile for a week. I understand everything you say but having all of the conveniences would kill it for me. I'm 64 years old and if I want a Lexus I'll go out and buy one. This is just ONE of the reasons the term "GOLDCHAINER" came to be.
Every divorced millionaire Orthodonist owns a Harley. I know several old time riders that just about puke when they see a group of 40-50 of those wannabes stop at a restraunt and pull out their cell phones to check in with their broker while their 20 something fluffs head for the restroom to straighten their hair and check thier makeup. Pretend hot rodding is OK for some.......................not for all.:(

The Walden chopped and ***embled 3W body is the nicest thing I've seen in a long time. It has has inner door bracing installed, a killer chop that is done as the car in being put together for the first time (way better then chopping a complete car), has his insert in the roof if you like a filled roof, and the craftsmanship is as good as it gets. Seriouslty I saw the car in person and up close in bare metal and you can't hardly tell where the modifications are. The metal work just can't be done any better.

The Walden body made with Brookville panels is $39k. Door supports, epoxy primer, etc. are extra.

    Great Thread for me.......

I have been into cars and radios for 35 years, torn both directions with time, space, and money.

Why not ask the guy selling it? I think he would have spoke up by now if he was here.
This place is 95 percent tire kickers and 5 percent doers.
