They say rear hot rods don't have fenders. How about real Kustoms are chopped. But unchopped are cool.

The car itself defines cool, not a particular modification.

In my taste, my un-chopped truck is as cool or even cooler than many similar models that I've seen which had been chopped. I do appreciate many chopped vehicle, but I will never chop my M1 nor will anyone else as long as it is mine.

Just like everybody else, I think some cars look better unchopped, but it all depends on your vision of what you want your car to be......I wanted a trad style tail dragger, and my car would look like an old lady's foot if it wasn't chopped.....

Another thing to consider is that cool greasy feeling that comes from looking through the windshield of a chopped car....(unless of coarse you're all hunched over and uncomfortable).....but in the right car, it's a pretty special feeling.....some of you know what I'm talking about.....I'm not really a bad ass, But I'm a little more bad ass than the guy on his first brand new Harley, with his brand new Harley leathers, and his "George Jetson" helmet........ but I feel like a bad ass in my cool chopped car......:D:D:D........I guess what I'm saying is, there's a special feeling that comes from driving the right chopped car......I'll ask Dr. Phil......

Just as cool... Maybe. Cooler.. unless the chop is bad... never.

But like someone already said, "Unchopped is the new chopped." This will be the hot new style for 2009, along with Vinyl tops & landau bars. This is what it will take to make the magazines.

You'll see very few chopped vehicles in the magazines.

  15. Personally, I think the car itself dictates a chop or not. Some cars almost require it, others look wrong with a chop. I agree that most cars post '60 just don't look right chopped. I guess it is a personal preference, but I always believed the bodylines decide if one is needed.

  17. This has got to be one of hte most beaufiul cars I have ever seen. I agree, this car begged to be chopped! Wow, the lines are perfect!

  18. ...a chopped car needs to be low to the ground, nothin worse than a chopped car that sits too high, it defeats the purpose.
...on the other hand an un-chopped car can sit higher and still look good.
...some of my favorite cars aren't chopped but sit real low, it gives them a cartoony look. (in a good way)...just my 2 cents.

  20. Like alot of people already said. "It's your car do what you want". I was really leaning towards chopping my car but I've decided not to.

My personel thoughts: While a chop if done right looks cool. To me I look at a chopped car and say to myself " another chopped car". Personally I like a car that has been "re-styled" I was luckey enough to have santa bring me the new book Kustomland . It's pretty much a color expose' on the work of Larry Watson. Not a single chopped car! Many subtle taillight, headlight and trim mods. And of course killer paint jobs, but all the cars are awsome. My point is that while chops are great there are alot of other things that can make a car as cool or in many case cooler than a chopped car. Even when you do chop alot of times less is more. A little off the top is better than alot. But it doesn't have to be chopped to be cool.

What's cool to you is all that matters!

    i largely like them unchopped
but i like the old stock car moonshiner look

  25. Chopped or unchopped can be cool or not cool. It isn't a chop that makes a car cool, it's the look of the overall car. Different is cool, so many cars have been chopped that unchopped cars are looking better all the time.

I was on the fence about chopping my A sedan because they are all chopped it seems. I still did it but only 2 inches.I didn't want he car to look chopped, just better proportioned. Most people walk into my shop and not even notice the chop. With that said I think if a chop should be tasteful and match the style of the build and not just be done for the look at me factor. Just my two cents.

Chopped is Ok if the proportions and workmanship are right on, poor chops look worse than stock.
