I purchased my 59 buick from original owners widow in Roswell N.M. While cleaning it out I found one of the illuminted stickers that read"department of defense area 51 n.m. It will go on car when finished. Approx. 3,000 cigarette butts in the trunk and a brass token under the rear seat from the chicken Ranch in LaGrange ,Texas good for one free ride $20.00 . The token may be why she was a widow. It's my key chain now.

  3. I was washing Limosines for LA Costa Hotel and spa and found a pea l necklace from the girlfriend of a famous comedian- Googenheimer. I gave it back and he didnt even give me a tip, the cheap S.O.B.! Mikey

this is actually quite common--it's almost scary. my dad tore open a wall in a bedroom in our house and found newspapers from the SF Chronicle that were 60 years old--to the day. this was back in '97 or so. but when this topic has come up in other conversations, i've had other people tell me similar stories.

I'm lookin' to do a period correct build on an A coupe. Need a dead rat from NO LATER than November of 1930. If you'll submit your rat to a reputable lab for carbon dating, I'll give you a couple bucks for it on approval.
    PM me ........... thanx.

  9. Here's what I found in my '63 T-bird over the years (got it on April Fool's Day '81, finally stripped the interior in summer '01 for full restoration):
Parking stub to Hollywood Park racetrack circa 1964
    .30 caliber bullet
Various coins dating from early '60s back to early '40s
Token from Omaha National Bank's 100th Anniversary
A gold-plated magnetic ornament with a Hebrew letter on it
Gas charge receipts from the '60s-'70s from a Chevron station in LA/Hollywood
LOTS of cigarette butts and ashes UNDER the center console (3 cupfulls)
The original ROT/build sheet for my car and a '63 Lincoln convertible that was next in line
Original black California license plate with stickers going back to 1964
Oil change tags from same Chevron station

Still have to put all these together for a display (with exception of the bullet - that got thrown in the ditch next to the garage years ago).

Last week I cut apart an old dryer (for clothes) and found a steel 1943 penny in it. I thought that was pretty cool.

In my '65 F100 I found an old registration of an owner that had lived in the same city as I live in. Strange thing was I drug the truck home from 150 miles away. The previous owners name was Richard Dyck... Kinda struck me funny (Dick Dyck. LOL). Until I seen the address was the house a really cool older guy I work with lives in. The truck was his dads, and I ended up getting the full history of what I thought was an anonymous truck... Kinda cool.

Sorry retromoters my rat was in a 46, but he could have been 16 years old, how much $$$ are we taking?

  17. Found this fishing lure in my '56 ford when I took it apart. It says Hot Rod on it. Figured it must be an omen, so I use it for a key chain for that car.

Thanks for the offer but guess I'll pass.
I'm a FNG here, but I've already picked up on the fact that if I try to use an incorrect era rat, somebody is gonna bust my ass about it!

Besides, the whole dead rat thing is gettin' sorta overdone IMHO.
It's so .... aw, I dunno .... so... "last wednesday".

"A dead rat is the new flat black!"
    Sorta catchy, ain't it.

I was stripping a car for parts I purchased at an old junkyard auction and found a snake skin about 4 feet long entangled under the dash. I poked around very slowly for awile after that.

I bought the remains of a 26 tall T coupe off of ebay and drove to Austin Texas to get it. Someone had chopped off the roof with an AXE and left the body to rot in a creek. It had rotted very well but the subframe was above the water line and thats the part I needed.
I took the body apart at the seams and found a 1938 buffalo nickle in good shape!

  23. When we were kids some of us boys would take night walks. We lived out in the boonies and didn't have to worry about bad elements in the area. One of our best routes included a large vacant tract of land that was also used by older kids to party and hang out in their cars. Being only 11 or 12, we'd go over there and find half empty liquor and wine bottles, and empty beer cans & bottles - which were each worth 2cents deposit refund. One night we noticed a car parked close to a bunch of trees along the trail. Figuring it was probably broke down, we walked up near it and lordy what we found inside!! I clicked the flashlight on into the window and there, spread eagle in the back seat was a very well endowed young thing, and a boy crouched between the front bucket seats but facing her, and both were nekkid as jaybirds! We figured he must've dropped something on the floor between her legs & was bent down looking for it . She screamed! He jumped up! And we ran like our backsides were on fire! He comes outta the car, screaming something at us but we're hightailing it into the woods. After we figured we lost him we stopped. A minute or so later the car went flying down the trail, we never even noticed what kinda car it was. But we never forgot what we "found" inside it!

When I took the door panels out of my '54 there was more than a bucket full of dirt in the rockers and over a dozen .357 magnum live rounds, when I first got it there was a large petrified rat in the engine compartment.

  27. Have told this story before, but bought a parts car and put the power seats in my driver, found one of those pot pipes in the left seat. Tossed it over the bank. Fast forward 5 years, junking the car, figured I'd save the seats since they were still nice. Car is on it's side, I cut the floorboards and drop the seats out. The passenger seat I toss aside out of the way if the car was to fall over and what pops out of the crack but another damned one of those pipes. This one I gave to someone I knew could use it.

Probably explains why the guys who had the parts car couldn't get it running and when I got it I put the ignition back together and found it was just bone dry out of gas.

My brother and I found a couple of year's supply of "Goldern Grain", "Velvet" and "Bull Durham" under the seat of an abandoned car at a dump once. Until then whe had smoked coffee, corn silks, etc. After that supply ran out we never went back to the substitutes.

Years ago I found a big bag of weed in an old Chevy I bought. I'm not a smoker but my older brother was at the time. I thought he was going to have a cow when I told him I flushed it.
