Lowcat, where is that article from? It's not true. Brewster was a custom body Co. that built bodies for Rolls Royce. In '33-'34 they bodied some Fords, which is what that pic is, but Ford had no connection to RR. There is one in York, Pa. that shows at Hershey and another in the AACA musuem right now.

    J J:

Where did you get that picture?

I was the one that parked that car in front of our old office in about 1964. That is the Starbird/Scully/Puhl, Electra. We bought it from Dave Puhl and changed it from the Blue to Candy Red and made some more stupid changes to it.

I was the custodian and hauled it around in a trailer with plexiglass sides as a promotion for Custom Polish. My boss and I each had it for 3 months in our sales territories.

I used to drive it in parades and it was one hot son of bitch under that bubble with no air conditioning, we finally put air in it.

Some guy in NJ has it now and and it hasn't been touched in 15 years at least. He still claims he is gonna restore it.

I still have a bunch of promotional stuff that I am saving to give to the car if it ever gets redone.

That pic sure brings back memories.

Actually Nixon had a Display of Racers at the White House. It was in National Dragster. There was a Pic of Nixon in awe of a FED with Jackie Stewart looking Smug over his shoulder. Anyone have that Pic?? Would love to have that again. Unfortunately I shot out all my old Dragsters...:(
Here is a Link of one Pic from Competition Plus with Ronnie Sox at that event. 14th pic down...

Cool car and a cool memory, the first car is just great partly because of the pride in the face of the owners, still want to build something like this one day.

The second picture is my wife in a race car, just an awesome idea and she loved it.

Wasn't one of Richard Petty's early-to-mid 70's racecars shown on the White House lawn, complete with the Peace sign headrest he had in his cars?
    Bet Nixon loved that?
Probably wanted to grab "Checkers" by the ears then?!

It's some guy in Wisconsin who about every year or so for quite a few years would send a picture of himself with some crazy piece of "yard art" he would create to all the major rod magazines(especially American Rodder...pre-Buckaroo). I think it had something to do with getting 15 minutes of fame and his ego or something....
I think he called that one the "tree truck tree house" or something like that

The truck in the tree is Mark Madson also known as the wisconsin mad man. If I remember the story right he built the general lee for a friend that owned a tavern called the Boar's nest to mount on the roof. He put it in the tree while doing maintenance to the tree truck for a couple of months.

He also has a rear engine econoline that is neat. Also builds miniracers out of lawn mowers. His website is markmadson.com.

He's a guy that if you tell him no way, he'll find a way.

  28. He also built and marketed a distributor cap that had a different firing order then your customary SBC. I would have to dig up an old copy of the mag to refresh my memory on it.

Drhotrodmd here on the HAMB is a good friend of Marks. DrHotRodMD built the Sinwagon Model A sedan.

Edit: That's it, The Madson Crossfire Cap. Thanks Enloe. I should have read further down before I replied.
