Recreating an existing part is resto / fabrication.. If He created a completely new bracket will still be fab.. metal work can be considered an art form..but I don't feel that would be the case here.

now ya add pictures,,lol very nice work,,but fab. not art

Looks like some good matel fab to me. I guess if it were art I would call myself a artist instead of a fabricator. Not hard to do with the right tools and craftmanship.

  12. Fabrication is an art.
Look at all the hacks and wannabe's that manage to screw it up.
It looks like Li'l Dave is headed in the right direction Alex.
    Be proud.

If you hang it on the wall its art, cause it is pretty. If it is actually gonna be put to use as in your case, it is nice fabrication! Looks real nice

That is sweet, I love working metal and it's great to see a job very well done.

It's fabrication, which in itself is an art ;)

Excellent work is there anyway you could give some tips on how you got it shapped? If it was cut out from templates, and welded or you had some way of stamping or bending. Either way you did it, it looks like artwork to me.

From some of the modern art I've seen THAT is DEFINITELY ART - no doubt about it!!!

  24. As a 'professional artist' I am of the considered opinion that damned near anything that involves a high degree of creativity is 'Art'.

    Thus...yes, this is Art.

i think it's: if you get paid it's fabrication, if you don't it's art.

  26. Real nice work....Possibly a future line for you Alex? Specially if you can't get them any more.

Both ... Art and Fabrication .... Not just anyone can build something like that. You have to have a eye for that stuff.. Easier said than done.. IMO

Excellent and impressive craftsmanship! If he's really a novice, then he's obviously talented and has a great future in this craft. Art, however, is something else.

    ill take a pic
normly i would t dolly the rolled edges then weld the 3 pieces to gether

in this case since it was my neffus first atempt i figured it would be easyer for him to weld the corners from the back ,then grind the edge 's on the out side touch up weld as needed & round the edges

his next time will be the t dollys and tig

all and all they dont look bad from the back ethere
