    Yep...
For the most part i do finish them...... eventually, but it seem's once they run and i can drive it.......that's all i want to do.
I got my 53 chevy on the road 3 years ago only needing an interior and rechromed bumpers to finish it..
A few thousand miles later, it still needs an interior and rechromed bumpers to finish it.
And yes, usually before i'm even at the 80% point, i either have an idea for the next project, or have it waiting already..
I feel i'm sick in some non medical way.

  4. I actually build my cars to 85%, start having fun, and call THAT done:D.

Yeah, I'm really bad about losing interest once I get it road worthy. I'm gonna hang on to my Model A's. At least that's the plan.

Well, I am at about 20% now with my 1 project. I'll be very happy when I get anywhere close to 80%.

Helmsville, I was just thinking the same thing today.

I just pushed out my roadster project. Im so burnt out on it, spent the past 1.5 years working on this. Im out of gas!

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=213839&page=4

I pushed it out of the garage today, wrapped it up in plastic ... and hopefully will get back to it in a few months I hope.

I even considered posting it up for sale or trade....now that is SICK!

I do want to finish it :)

Is this a competion? Finished cars are overated. I think I sold 4-5 projects in '08 to focus on the the keepers. Once I have a clear picture of the finished project in my head I see no reason to spend the time and money to bring it to reality.

I work with a guy that says the best motivation is having someone tell him, "Oh, you'll never get that done". He says it grates him enough to finish it just to prove them wrong.

So, anyways, I'm not doing anything for awhile (can't work), so why not fly me to your house?

I mean, it's not like your ever going to get that (insert project name) thing done anyhow...:D

I always thought that when you got to the point that you could see your project like this that you were done.

Your goals are too lofty...lower your expectations so that at 80% you're done...but then you'd probably stop at 60%....

It looks like I'm in the right place. I did a frame off on a 66 Vette ,everything was done except paint & chrome, drove it like that for 3 yrs. before I sold it and moved on .

  28. Lucky********s . . . all crowing about getting to 80%, driving your cars and then forgetting about the last 20% :D

All I want to do is get to 80% on my coupe . . . then hopefully I have enough damn stamina and money left to go a bit further. I've got plenty of parts, but a LONG way to go!

I do think that once you can drive them, the temptation is to not complete them (been there a few times). Maybe I'll deliberately make sure I can't drive it until it is done -- have my wife steal the ignition off it anytime it looks like it is getting close . . .

What a load of crock here... HotRod's ARE 80% cars..!
No fenders, no hoodsides, no running boards, numerous of useless items removed. Ta-da... 80%! :D

That said, I myself always try to keep a project in 'non-running'-condition as long as possible while I work on the rest of car. Because I know myself, once it has it's been to the DMV, I'll just want to drive it.
