I just dug these out. They're not action shots. But I hope you like 'em. The well dressed young fan is yours truly. 1968... Maybe, not sure. Check out that hi tech 8mm camera he's holdin'. What other motorsport can you get this close to the cars. Oh! By the way the pics are from Fremont.

Thanks again for this MAGNIFICENT thread!!! The memories have been awesome. The photog, my Dad, of this group of pics is gone now. We were always at Fremont. Watchin' and then eventually racin'.

    THANKS!!!! :D

Hey Spuds! Is that your '49 coupe on your avatar? I've been a fan of you guys for a few years now, since you first brought it to Medford (I was doing tech inspection and announcing). That's one killer car! Saw you running low 8's at Boise last summer. Must be the homemade fiberglass body... Great car and great racers. Why not post a shot of it in motion?

Hey Keith, I miss Fremont! My dad took me for the first time in 1974 when I won tickets to an event through the Revell Master Modeler's club. The '68 shots are great pics! Love how you could lean on and touch the cars while posing for pics.

So thats the origin of the Northwest based Gentle Ben A/FC. That shot really represents the diversity of cars that competed in comp eliminator back then; comp dragster and inj flopper

Okay, we had big Chevy photos on page 409. How about some Mopar photos on page 413. Or are we waiting for 426?

I like this car for a couple reasons: first, it's a '67 body and obviously early '70's style. Second, it ran a Ford FE motor when everyone else ran Hemis. It's also got one other thing I've never seen on a digger-chassied flopper, steel (as in oem) bolt-on front wheels. Low buck racing at it's finest...

Here is a shot of Dick Landy's car after it was sold, was taken somewhere around 1966 at San Fernando Raceway. Not to much information other than that due to old age. Does Anyone have more information on this?

Have one more of Dick Landy's 64 car , after they started moving the rear wheels. Note straight front end also. As I remember it had some wierd headers on it, they call 180 degree at the time. Had one pipe out the front and one out the back and sounded real funny, like a sewing machine. I guess, it didn't catch on , as I never heard of them again. Note : I'm the one looking under the car

That's a nice looking Honda CL-77 (with modified exhaust). Never seen one in yellow!

  24. Here it is in restored condition and now owned by Todd Werner. They did an awesome job!!!

  25. Me too! Here's a couple of other "mid year" Mustang floppers (unfortunately not in motion, sorry). McKesson ran an injected SOHC, but Butch ran a wedge motor. Fuzzy memory, and I hope Dennis (who's forgotten more about '60s racing than I will ever know) will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that Kernodle's car is the ex-SWC Dark Horse.

TMcCrea, Yellow Honda (Super Hawk? Scrambler?), must have been the "track" bike, EVERYTHING at Carlsbad was YELLOW. Too bad it's just a memory now too. Butch/56sedandelivery.

The bike is\was a 1967 (or earlier) Scrambler. My first bike was a 1968 Scrambler that I bought while in Ethiopia. Too bad I had to leave it there!
