So I moved here from Chicago about four years ago on a job transfer. I spent the first year bumming around pissed off that I moved so I decided to get myself a project car to pass the time. I realized part of the fun of working on a project is sharing your progress with your buddies but seeing as I was new in town I hadnt met anyone into cars. Then one day a couple guys came strolling into my work and we started shooting the sh-t about cars. Anyway long story short they told me about the HAMB. Needless to say I have been hooked ever since and met some great people. Whats weird is that it turns out Northeast Ohio is some kind of Hot Rod Mecca. I cant believe how many people are into traditional cars out here. I just went to the newbie page and it seems like every few guys is a new guy from this area. So NE Ohio Hambers stand up and be proud! your home town kicks ass!

Ohio sucks................uh wait a minute...car mecca thats it. I meant Ohio weather sucks.

I am in the middle of 4 drag strips and car stuff happening every night of the week. even though it is a tough place to live sometimes I stay.

    Youngstown area here.

Look at my albums. Our club is 12 strong, and theres countless guys I'm friends with, into this stuff, within the Youngstown, Akron, Cleveland areas...

  6. Yep...something always going on. And plenty of guys around here spend all winter building for "Next year" as out football motto says (Go Browns) as for me.......I own way to many projects, never finish them before I trade them or sell 'em off for the next one.

I belong to a car club that has a little bit of everything in all states of being finished. We got young guys trying to learn the traditional ways to the older crew doing it the way it always has been done.

We got members with Y-blocks, Hemis, Olds J-2's, Ponchos, AMC's, SBC, BBC's Some on Alcohol, some injected some blown and some naturally aspirated, some in model A's some in 56 chevys, some in 55 Pontiacs,55 Fords, Late 40's Oldsmobiles, Studebakers, Willys, Trucks, Coupes, Sedans, and even a Tub, some leadsleds, some gassers, some street terrors.

We have club meetings once a week and rotate them from member to member so the crew gets to help each other out. We trade parts, tell bullshit stories and eat well....and we look out for each other, wether it is scooping up a deal for them, giving a helping hand when one is down on their luck or just that push to get them motivated.

I think you were at one of our meetings when you first came to this area. As with anyone you are welcome to any of our meetings to check it out. One of members has a '56 Chev gasser in the works now....you might like it and its close to home for you.

We are a Mecca???? We all know each other or know someone that knows someone that's for sure.

Hudson, Ohio checking in here! Actually, we're originally from Ashtabula, Ohio. Great cruise on the lake in Bula on Sunday afternoons if you get a chance. Still have a garage and most of my cars there.

Actually going to Chicago on Thursday to pick up the latest project. It's a car that my son and I are building for him. Where in Chicago are you from? The shop doing the work for us is Hot Rod Chassis and Cycle in Addison, Il.
Here's a link to the project!

Nice build you have going, I have been following the thread. I know where Addison is, I was living out in Hanover Park right before I moved.

We moved about 6 months ago from 'Upper NE Ohio' (Ashtabula; the buckle of the snow belt) to 'Lower NE Ohio' (Bolivar; just south of Canton) all the HOT ROD fun without the snow...two early '50s just passed our house....this place is great. Ohio does rock!!

I currently live in Smithville, but I just bought some property out in paris (east of canton). There's quite a few traditional hot rods running around here. Just waiting for spring to get back out there... January isn't real comfortable in a roadster! Hello to all!

    gassman57,
You'll have to flag me down sometime this summer. My fiancee's grandparents live down in bolivar, and I'm down there in the roadster all the time!

    Don't forget about Southwest Ohio!

The scene around here ain't too shabby....

I've often heard over the years that Ohio has one of the best scenes outside of Socal.

Just traded my Bus for a 53'....

See y'all on the show circuit this Summer...

Its coming along. I just need to install the new wiring harness, hook the shifter up, put the radiator back in and hook up the linkage. Its about a days worth of work, so I should get all that stuff done by spring lol. Its hard to get motivated to work in an unheated garage:D Feel free to swing by if you get bored, Im home Tuesdays and Wednesdays all day.

Blaine, Ohio here (6 miles from Wheeling,WV) I guess at the edge of being North East Ohio. Not to many traditional rods or kustoms here but I'm doing my best to change that.
Moved here 5 years ago from Santa Maria, Ca.(what's with this snow stuff???LOL) and I hit as many traditional show/runs/drags as I can.
Some cool stuff here in Ohio.
Oh Ya! Let's have a H.A.M.B. meet and greet at "The Hot Rod Restaurant" in New Philadelphia, Ohio sometime.

    O H!.......................................I O!

Yeah i need to get some of you HAMBers over here in Garrettsville during the cruise season and show these tight wads what real hot rods are! LOL.
Truth is im starting to sketch up a flyer for the Inaugural "Disturbing the Peace" get together at our house (SniffnPaint & JustBryan) Cars n Bikes Pre 1970.
Beer, food , some not so live music and friends. Then we'd all head down to the local G-ville Show and make some noise. You know... making babies cry and scaring gold chainers. HA, its all in the planning stage now for 2009.

    Anyone interested??

Love this region for the overhead is low lotts of open space to play in. 10-4 on that Hot Rod Meca stuff ! EVERY SPRING you see fresh builds running around here from the winter hybernation ! Never gets stale.

Looking foreward to seeing ALL you guys at local drag strips this summer. I think 09 will be another KICK ASS Hot Rod Summer here in N.E Ohio.

Hello to every one from Chardon Twp. Got my A coupe's frame just about on wheels , and waiting out the rest of winter. Rumor has it we're getting a Quaker Stake N'lube in Mentor at Rt. 306& Tyler(the old Che-Che's). Between that, Anabel's, and K-Mart, it should be a pretty good show. I'm up for a breakfast get-to-gether.
