My first car was a 39 Ford Std coupe. I bought it for $100 when I turned 16. I also had a 34 Ford pickmeup that I chopped, channeled, swapped an Olds engine and tranny into, all in my back yard. I regret selling them, but I couldn't take them with me because I bought my third car, a 47 Chev, and moved to Vancouver to work. Bob

It was not my daily driver, but I did drive this car to school occasionally and my father drove it while he was in high school, after he built it. It was a basket case when he got it and put it together when he was 17 or so. It is a 1960 Vette with a 327 and 4 speed out of an Impala. He drove it to high school in 1976 and I drove it in 2004.
My first ride was a 73 Cutlass, shortly written off when I loaned it out to a friend for a first date. Second car was a factory original 71 SS 454 Chevelle, not the first pick of this group, but a real cool car at 17. I then bought a...ready for this?....a 80's something Citation....yeah a Citation with the radio going vertically. I had this as my beater, to save the Chevelle. Funny thing was I had the fastest car in High School with the Chevelle, had a buddy that had a 70 Mustang. His beater was a 80's something Honda, we used to race the cars on an old concession road....I beat the living shit out of the Citation to lay claim to having the fastest 4 cyl. in school as well. The Citation was wrecked in an accident and I inherited a 78 Mecury, 460cid, loaded to the gills. What a party car, man I had fun in that Merc.
'66 Chevelle SS396 4speed '55 chevy 210 straight axle, Tilt front end '50 olds fastback stright axle, Hilborn injected '63 chevy II 283 auto. Just sold this last week, Had it since 1980
Mine was a 64 Ford Falcon futura with the 289, not fast enough to get me in real trouble but fun for spinnin donuts in the parking lot after school.
This was mine. 1952 Pontiac and no it wasnt new haha It had 3 on the tree and a straight 8. I thought I had the coolest car in school and compared to most of my friends I did just because I had a car. My dad gave $100 for the car and I drove it my sophomore and junior years before selling it to a buddy for $50. If I could find another one I could build a great cruiser out of it.
Dare I say I had a 66 Bug, But by my senior year I had my Avatar, 63 f-100. Took me a year or two to come to my senses.
'68 Pontiac Bonneville Rag-top, When I was 12 my Dad bought it for $150 with a bad timing chain. We, well really no,, he fixed it and he drove it around for a couple years. He gave it to me when I was 14 and said "If you work on this, by the time you can drive you will have one really nice ride" He was right, that car was NICE!!! Huge back seat HAHAHA..and a 428! Started at the bottom, underneath, and worked my way around and over the whole car. Did the body work, paint and even a new top. That feeling when you take it out for its first drive is something else. Gave me this sick obssesion !!! Next was as '66 GTO Ragtop-triple black, tri power 4-speed, 67 Firebird Ragtop, 66 Buick GS 401 Nailhead, '81 ElCamino Royal-Night, '66 Elcamino all before I was 20. and the list goes on.
We don't have high school here but when i was at 1 day a week (shop) college i was driving a 1974 Hillman Imp. it only had a 875cc motor but was quite nippy considering and still to this day the best fun on the country back roads i've ever had
I had a '66 mustang, 6 cylinder, automatic that i totaled out last day of my junior year, and got a '66 stang convertible 289 4speed car for my senior year, and it was a pile of shit! I do still have it though!
Yeah i still have 3 VW's along with my American cars and would never sell them... check my thread in the introductions if you have any interest. also there is a lot bigger really friendly scene for VW's over here in the UK. the American car scene is tiny compared but hopefully things will change, a lot of my friends who own VW's are now getting into American cars too so expect to see lots more about on the streets and and shows over here in the next year or so
When I was 15 I worked at a Sunoco station in Livonia, MI. This guy used to come in driving a blue 69 Hemi Roadrunner 4 spd. I loved that car and told him when he wanted to sell it, I want first shot. He rolled in about 3 months later with his pregnant girlfriend. I bought the car for $1700. I had to wait a month till I got my drivers license. I street raced this car on Telegraph Rd and Woodward ave for 3 years. I Lost my license with that car three times. The cops hated me because I didn't have a license and wouldn't stop racing. Every time they turned on the lights I ran. They caught me once and I got 3 days in jail. The car got stolen in 1976. One of my friends became a cop in Livonia. He heard a rumor that they got tired of chasing the car, so they made the problem go away. My second car was a Triumph TR4A with 283 chevy stuffed in it. I was a jackass street racer and would not be denied. Mike TPG
1956 Corvette...Yah it was a 265/glide/smoked/flaking grey paint/grabbing brakes. (How many times I wished I had it back.) Signed: Stupid in AZ
50 ford crestliner....bought it with a cracked block and my dad and I rebuilt a 53 Merc 255 for it...this is the car on the day I bought it...my 16th Birfday....1964. Wish I had some photos of it after I did some work on it.
This is like the 4th shoebox picture from back in the day that has 56 merc seats. It must have been a popular thing to do back then. Billy
1960 Studebaker Lark 4 door, 289R1, Ford 3speed with overdrive, and Stude pickup rear end ( deep gears ) It was a very fast street racer in its day. from there I went VW bug and ran road rallys, sports car racing then here.
