There are 3 29 chevy doors on the Bay. I did not look at them close.

I don't mean to nag, already mentioned it, but in case you forgot. If you move the radiator crossmember there's a few inches up front to play with, move the cowl forward....................

not to woried about leg room its the head room after the chop

  6. Hey Rat I chopped mine 6 1/2 inches, and channeled 3, and there is PLENTY of room for someone of your size to fit. I am 6', and I have about 7 inches to spare, but I am using 64 mustang seats, and the floor board sits 3/4's of an inch ontop of the frame. I took the top section of the windshield where the rolling mech. is located out, so that I have about an 8 1/2 inch winshield instead of about a 5 1/2. Hope this helps

Well ratcoach, guys... (Man this thread lit up over the weekend way to go) I also got a little work done on the 28 this weekend. Decided to degree and install the 32 ford crossmember for the front suspension. It was really tight to the grille shell, but that gave me an idea as to the mounting of the grille shell itself. What I did was made a pattern from cardboard from the front af the 32 crossmember, to the lower mounting points of the 28 grille shell. Then using the pattern on the old chevy crossmember, that I cut out of the frame that had the old grille mounting points. I cut the front edge off of it then tack welded it to the 32 crossmember while I still had the grille in place from when I lined up the hood. worked really slick and killed two birds with one stone. Have a look Oh and for all those sensitive types I really did not kill any birds....GHOST

looks great ghost. excellant idea and work. i was also planning to use the ford transverse setup, can i ask why you chose the 32 over the modelA? any advantage? the modelA setup is cheaper but i don't know its any better. any advice? thanks, mike

Naw... I just thought it had a little more meat on each end than the model a. Plus speedways advertises that it is one inch lower than stock. But it almost backfired on me with my grille shell being so tight to it, and worrying about keeping the correct wheel base. One more inch and I would have to rethink using the model a. But it worked out this time. Thanks for the comment...ghost

Hey ratcoach! Looking at those pictures reminds me of when I started tacking the square tubes inside the body of Nash. Actually it made me tired just to remember it!! Good going, it looks better as it takes shape, instead of laying around all limp in a pile. You did good on that intake, it'll look *****in' on the rod.

    It's own room, now that's REAL progress.

Ratcoach are you using a bottle with your mig, or the flux core wire. And have you migged with the shielding gas and 0 24 wire, on the thinner metal like car bodys. Just wondering. Your 29 is starting to look more like a car with every picture. Gets kinda exciting dont it? And another thing you have a s**** yard that you can walk to??? must be nice. I built and installed all my patch panels on the 28 when it was up side down. The lower portion metal was either weak or had rust holes in them all around the bottom except the doors (keep going)...ghost

Looks good, and those parts look familiar! I definitely had my heart set on using the Chevy suspension but this is definitely one of the better looking options I've seen for going over to the Ford side.

I'll insert my shameless plug here for my frame build. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=291794 Ghost I see you've checked it out and I appreciate the compliments. I'll admit that I'm going Ford in the rear with a pre-'66 9". Hey, Ford's got to be represented somewhere on the car I guess. The Carter AFB is off a Chrysler originally so there, I did my part for the Big 3 and can do the rest in Chevy.

Things are getting real hard to get down here in south Tex. I've had to travel to N. Dakota, NJ, Mn, NM, OK and all of Tex to get stuff. I had been looking for a Chevy roadster or coupe and hadn't found anything until I bought this partial coupe. I later picked up the red roadster I'm working on. Hell, I went to Iowa and picked up a '31 chevy "doodlebug". Joe.

Joe Tx got my 32 pretty much the same condition. when they brought it to me it was in the back of a pick up. And I thought they forgot to load the car. My point being is why could'nt you have the guy you bought it from knock it down a little flatter, and put it on a pallet. Or is it still too expensive to ship that way? ghost (Nash he is'nt selling it)

Sorry but I misunderstood Mink's question. I thought he was asking what I had paid for it. Not what I wanted for it. I'm not trying to sell it. My reply is just what I paid for it. I need it for my build. I've asked for help to try to get it down to South Tx. I sure didn't mean to offend anyone. Joe.

Most of the chevy rodders here i'd say 80% of them started with a project with heavy structual problems.
My 32 was n't to bad compared to some of yours well.... Heres some of the problems:

There was an elecrical fire. Now that i think of it it must have been any engine fire. The decerative knobs on the hood doors melted, tweeked doors. and such

    Wood completely gone

PO eith attempted to chop the top or switch the cowl out. check this picture link out
    http://www.hotrodders.com/journal_photos/00047342/12067702610.jpg

Front doors badly dented. And such

But thats what you get for the price i was will to pay for it. $800

Is that the 32 that your talking about. If it is fires are pretty rough on them. They can warp the bodys fairly quick and the door in the pic looks like it is for a coupe with the curve in top of it. Not that it could'nt work with a little cut and fold here and there. I think a 4 door would be a nice build project there was a nice 31 4 door body in a junk yard about 10 years ago with new wood in it. prolly trash by now. HMMM I might go check on it just for parts for every one and to see whats there...ghost
