  1. My car is getting completely primered soon.

I've been planning black, but maroon/burgundy has been getting my attention too.

Could you guys photoshop either, with no flames? (FYI I am doing stock bumpers, and wide whites too with probably Sombrero wheel covers, and lowering the car a few inches too).

Tough choice IMO since both colors look great on a Merc, but if it was mine I'd go black.

  3. I saw Kevin Lee's picture of Ray Richards maroon car in R&C the other day and it made me think about maroon again (darn that Kevin guy!).

I could go either way, but if it is going to be maroon/burgandy, I think it should be really dark.

This is a car I really want to see finished, because (no offence) it was really ugly the way you bought it, and I like all of the things you decided to change on it.

Well, make sure it's straight as an arrow if you paint it black...

What about red with yellow flames:) Nah black. Theres a reason why theres a lot of black Mercs, it just suits them better. My 2 cents.

I can think of no better color for a merc than a deep deep maroon. ad matching maroon and white tuck and roll and you have a car that will never go out of style.

  11. Squablow I hear ya, the car looked like a person who had a Merc decided to paint it like a a 1992-era '32 5 window. I'd be happy to Paypal some bux over to someone to show me what the car would look like in a "deep deep maroon."

How about the best of both worlds? Paint the car black and then shoot Kandy brandy wine over it in the clear. Or maybe a burgundy pearl in the clear. Either way, it'd look black until the sun or street lights hit it. When I was a kid, my dad had a chopper building buddy do that to my Schwinn Stingray. Looked AWESOME!

I would vote for Maroon or even a deep dark green or something like Sam Barris's merc.

I've been eyeballing the 2008/09 Cadillac Black Cherry. It would sure look good on a slick custom.

It's almost black in some light and a deep dark Pearl maroon in others.

I would go with the Maroon. You have tried so hard to make this like an early '50s build and I cannot think of a single significant Merc built in the 50's that was painted Black. Black will look stunning but all of the major builds in the 50's were a dark color other than black. They used dark green, blue, maroon, purple but not black. Just my two cents.

  22. That's funny. Have you asked Ronald how much he'd pay you for it?

  23. Kinda like that hat that always shows up in the Arby's commercials.

I think that a dark maroon would look best.

A good choice might be Cruiser Maroon, a MOPAR Plymouth color from 1946-48 and maybe a year or two later. It would time-period fit the car and is an unusual, for today, shade of maroon which would stand out as much as your car does.
