The atomic clock is a genuine early 60's item obtained with cigarette coupons. Rough shape when I got it, but worth saving.

The other was something a friend got me for the garage since I watched American Graffiti 6 times in a row when it first came out instead of hitting the beach in Miami where we were vacationing. Can someone be forced to get a life?

This is the picture of my garage clock. It started out as a piece of junk.

Nothing super rare, but I used to walk past this one on the way to school. We hardly even gave it notice as a kid. Many years later I decided to see if the owner would part with it - it hung on his garage outside under an overhang for 40+ years. After months of trying I finally figured out who owned the house (it was near abandoned by then) and I talked to the old fella about it. He happily accepted my offer and went to go get a ladder. I was just standing there gazing up at it - when clearly it decided it wanted to leave that cold perch and promptly fell to the ground right before my eyes. He came back saying, "ya just couldn't wait fer that ladder - huh?" I tried to tell him I never touched it - I'm quite sure he didn't believe me. Then much to his disbelief I handed him his money. He proclaimed, "ya mean ya still want it?"
I said sure - the dent wasn't all that bad and the neon was already toast.

Once at home I immediately started to work on popping that dent out (it came right out BTW) when an old codger buddy of mine stopped over. He was asking where I got the clock and he soon figured out that it was from a BUDDY of his !

"Jesus Christ - I could have gotten you that clock for FREE - I've been friends with that guy for 60 some odd years!!!", he tells me chuckling all along. We yucked it up - as it wasn't about the money - we both came out good.

Here are a couple of mine. One from my grandmother's garage and one I made from a freebie hubcap out of the trash at Hershey.

Absolutely - Those are called "Aztec's" - at least those that are in the know tell me so. I always had a soft spot for them - they don't seem to be near as popular as the Cleveland Bubble clocks - maybe that's part of why I like them so much.

    Here's another.

These were once as common as loaves of bread. Pretty cool how it has a sign on the back - I assume it was intened to hang over the entrance door so you could read that back sign as you left.

Ok last one - I don't wanna get yelled at:rolleyes:

I've yet to see another one of these, but am sure they're out there. What's COOL is that there's a scrolling advertisement - it says "RUSTOLEUM NOW AVAILABLE IN COLORS" The startburst also changes colors with that rotating wheel. I always thought it was neat to think it was evidently a big deal that they added COLORS to their product line.

Hmnnn......well I suppose I could take another shot with TODAYS NEWSPAPER in front of mine - you know like the kidnappers do. Well I'd have to go get a paper first - since I don't read the paper (I read the HAMB instead)

Wait a minute.......there I fixed it .....now my damn armpit is cold!
