Saw it with my GF and the first question out of her mouth is "where's the top"? She drives a fox body convertible I just replaced the top on after countless hours of "where's my new top"?

So does it have a top or not? Anybody know?

I sometimes ran the AC in my convertible with the top down. On hot days its nice to have a little cool air in your face.

Oh man, my mistake OPS! it was Dick Dean! Dick is a legend in the custom car world.I have been watching his amazing work in the magazines for years. He chopped countless kustoms, rods, pickups,VANS ,built limmoes and cut about anything cool with 4 wheels.

This is my favorate build on that show. They built it at SEMA last year, I must have spent 4-5 hours every day in that tent watching them work on this car. It was amazing to watch them at work, it seemed as if there was 10 people at all times working on it. There was a paint booth right out the back door of the tent when they sprayed it and sewing machines in the one corner where the interior was made. The last night I was there I stayed there until almost 2am and everyone was still hard at work. Pretty crazy stuff.

Chip had ideas of building the car ,soon as he seen the application with kassia in frint of the car ..we sat around and bs'ed the build a month or so before SEMA .

the car was a pile from the get go .it took another spare car to replace the floors and the door skins we used for the quarters .i bought some hardtop doors from Frank Palmer about 6 years ago .we used them on the car .layed the windshield back.custom trim and grill .and changed the front wheel opening .lengthened the frame . small block ford / aod ,9 inch ..kustom wheels ..custom paint ..mixed on site ..from Chip himself .. i mixed up one shot to match ..then the man ! Tom Kelley came out and schooled the shit out of me ..

we had a great crew and some of the best metal guys around ..guys that worked on impression to regular guys getting the chance to show their skill .

yes ..the car is worth at least a hundred grand ..

    and Kassia loves it !

Just curious why you would pay taxes on a car you already own? Just a thought.

This weekend I was talking to one of the guys that worked on a bunch of the cars. He said that the people from the first season got stuck with huge bills (around ~$20k).

After that, they started having the cars appraised as non-Foose cars, which dropped taxes down into the $5k range. Unfortunately, there were still people that couldn't afford it.

Not to get too far from the topic, My brother is a security gaurd in Washington state, he saw a guy driving the CMT "loaner truck" for about 3 months, then he saw the guy come in one day in the truck they had "tricked" on trick my truck. Not sure if took so long to do it, or if it was in some kind of safety inspection. But definitely the same type of scenario...

I know some of you give Foose a load of grief about things like "Master cylinder heads", but anyone can say one thing and mean another. He just gets caught on camera doing it. He seems like a cool dude to me and he's one helluva designer. OK.... I'd suggest a little less use of silver and yellow together, but other than that, the man knows his job.

Skratch, nice work man. I stripe a bit myself, so I know when someone's good at what they do and your signature is right....you're better than me. haha.

Good job all around on an otherwise boring little grocery getter. And it was for a good cause, so what's the issue? Taxes? Even if they can't afford to pay the taxes on that car, they can still sell it and have a tidy profit from it. Let's face it, if that car sold for only 25K.......IT STARTED AS A LITTLE RUSTY 4 DOOR. They would have just traded a little rusty four door car for 25K. Not bad in anyone's book.

with rust holes bigger than my kids.
and about the a/c yes...it is kinda ineffective. i will sure have icey cold feet when im drving around in triple digit heat this summer.
thank you all for your kind words..and my heart goes out to all of you that have family or friends with ms...

but i am truely lucky to have such a loving husband and to have met so many people that put in so many hours to make a dream come true.

  20. Yeah, I wanted to see it, because i'm doing the grill in my car similar to your's. I'll just watch it on the discovery web site.

    Nice car by the way!

  21. Game show winners pay taxes on the FULL RETAIL value of the prize(s). That's why, if you do go on a game show, you want to win either cash, or cash and prizes - that way, you have cash to pay the taxes with. YOu DO have the option of actually declining prizes that you have won, to lessen the tax burden. Game show (and gambling winners, Lotto, etc) have to fill out a Form 1099G on their winnings and file it as taxable income for the Feds (and your State, if they tax). I would imagine the same 1099G applies to an "Overhaulin'!" car, as well.

Overhaulin, Chip, Skratch....nice show, but I'm across the country, and the amount of "when is it going to be done" crybabies you have created since you first aired is unreal. I do it alone, no help / destroying kids wanted. Have Foose tell Joe Public how many hours are involved in EVERY ending scene. To add, I have never been one to assemble a car and install an engine...with paint that's a few hours old. Must be TV law of physics. Isn't this the same show that had that 90210 jerk host in the beginning?

I remember seeing the car at Viva before the show had aired and thinking to my self that it was something special. It stood out from the rest for sure. Do you ever bring it out to any of the other Vegas get togethers?

they usually seem to work a lot longer than 12 hours, probably closer to 18-20. when they do the reveals i'd say there's usually 30-40 people in the background who helped build the car. using those estimates i get 3750-5600 hours. either way, there's a TON of time in these builds. the guys bust their asses to get the cars done. whether i like the end result of the car or not, i have to give them the upmost respect for how hard they work to achieve it.
