    thanks Chris,

i like the proportions of your car though, you have to take into consideration the height of your 32 rails vs the model A. i think a 4-4.5 inch chop is just right for a coupe on 32 rails.

  5. *****in project Eric! Look forward to following the progress. It's weird how simple a car like this seems but is still ALOT of work.

  6. Nice pics...great progress.

Any thoughts about a mild channel? Dont get me wrong, it's looking great, but I like the way a just hidden frame looks without compromiseing interior room...just my taste...

I would vote for solids over wires, mainly because wires are such a ***** to clean...

I'll be subscribing to this one...can't wait to see more!

    Thanks for sharing...

thanks, no channel on this one, been there done that. i'm 6'2 so model A's are small even when they are stock height and i dont want to wear this one like i did with my last one . . .

Mmmm, wheatstone bridge eh, Bruce. Sounds like something you may find in a piece of atmospheric monitoring equipment. You know all kinds of ****, don't you?

By the way that is the perfect amount of chop on that body. Sounds extreme but looks really good.

I'm also in awe of that Buick powered A you had. Great shots

Eric how the hell do you get this done where you live? It looks like a lot of activity (read grinder, compressor, painting) in a heavily occupied area. I live in a housing tract and its a PITA. Any h***les from the neighbors?

I think your blue car is just right. But this one is nice too without the channel and a flathead, just as nice, a different style from the blue car.

Don't look like you need any advise nailing that period build you going for. Looks great but if I may suggest installation of a factory body and wood Kit ? Coldwar Hamber hooked me up with a really nice one for my A. PM me if you want some detailed pics.

I love how it took all the rattles and squeeks out of my ride. The kit only cost me 600. was a breeze to install. Best , haney

wow thanks guys i didnt realize this thread got brought back up, sorry i havent been consistent with the updates but i went out of town for the holidays and have been too busy working since then to give an update.

progress has been slow but steady, i got my steering box all trimmed and set, man those F1 boxes are a tight fit but the modification was easy enough. still need to fabricate a column drop.

also got my pedal ***embly all cleaned up and mounted, also F1, i had to section the clutch equalizer bar and flip the arm. the F1 pedals are a really nice setup and will definitely use them again.

made my shock mounts on monday, i used F1 mounts (man i just realized how many F1 pieces im using, this thing is going to be a truck by the time im done)
i cut mine instead of heating and bending. i set the eye to eye distance to 2 1/2 inches since i was going to be drilling new holes instead of the knocking out the rivets on the crossmember way. i chose to do it this way because i am using the bottom shock mounts that bolt to the bottom of the perches and i want to get the angle of the mounting studs to be identical to prevent binding. i made a simple jig out of a 2x4 so i could get the angles right and so both pieces would be identical.

i will be making my headlight mounts off of these this week.

i also shortened my Torque Tube over the weekend. now heres where im probably going to catch some flack but i decided after taking a ton of measurements that it made more sense to cut the center support bearing out completely  i did this because i had to shorten the tube nearly 19 inches and the bearing would have pretty much been at the axle, and since i shortened so drastically i dont think it needs one. so before you start telling my im an idiot just know that this is an experiment and if it doesnt work it wont be a hard thing to change. and yes i am going to have my driveshaft shortened and balanced professionally so this was another part of my reasoning.

i cut the top of the tube first (it helps if you make a couple of marks on both end so you can line them up later) i then bolted it to the back of the trans and set my angle. after lots of measuring i cut the other end. to help with trueing up the pieces since i dont have a tubing clamp i cut up a piece of the section i trimmed to use as a homemade clamp of sorts, it actually worked very well. once i knew that everything was trued up after taking about a million measurements (its needs to be Laser straight or you will eat up bearings!) i tacked the 2 pieces together. then i took the tube over to Scooters place since he has a *****in welder and he did a damn good job finish welding it for me. now iall i have to do is take my driveshaft to the a driveline place and tell them i need it shortened the same amount i shortend the tube, which in this case was 18 3/4 inches.

thats all the updates for now, im going to bed
