The big truck , if intact should bring about 500-1200. The cab ,hood and grill are all that is usable. I would go and look though. Big trucks see big abuse.

"unmolested" means he knows what they are worth and is looking for big money

I live in North Dakota, I went to an auction in South Dakota...cars are supposed to be cheap here mind you. There were two Ford 5W coupes up for grabs 1 was a 35' 1 was a 36'. The 36' ran and had a flatty in it, went for $14,500.00 the 35' didn't run had a flatty, went for around $12,000.00 OUCH!

tell him you hate to price other people's stuff and to tell you what he wants for it.

    "One dollar, Bob."

    ^Good way to get shot.

Go look at them, act excited if you are, and make an offer. Of course he knows what he has. He's been watching Barrett-Jackson.

what is up with these people selling cars and tell you make an offer???

I always tell them you go first. if they refuse I offer about 1/20th of what they are worth. I always figure if they accept your first offer you offered too much.

  11. i tried to have him give me a number...any number but he said he dident know what they were worth and dident want to get cheatted.... blah blah blah

how can you sell something and not have a price?

When i was a kid my daddy went with me into a local junk store and there was something i wanted, I dont remember now. But anyway the shopkeeper, who was a friend of ours, told me to make an offer on it. I looked at my Dad, I dint know what to do i was just a kid. I said "I dont want to make em mad, what do i do Dad" "He said make him an offer son, whats the least your willing to pay" I told the the shop keeper "Ill give you a penny" he didnt get mad and he gave me a price. And i paid it. That has been my strategy my whole life, usually. If some one says to make em an offer. I always say "If im making the offer then i offer you a penny, now whats your price" and we go from there. Occasionally if its an older more respectable man i will usually offer him half of what im willing to pay and go from there. So the question is, how much are you willing to pay?

  13. Either show up with cash in hand, and be prepared to haul them out right then, or go home empty handed if he declines your offer.

Or just realize this guy is probably a time waster and just forget about them.
Since they are on Craigslist, theres probably half a million guys emailing him at once. thats why he thinks they are now worth more than he may have initially thought.
I'd go with about 5 grand in my pocket and see what happens.

What is the other car? 5W? Sedan? That makes a big difference in price. The truck is only worth up to $1500 if its complete and not all beat up.
There was a 36 2dr sedan (maybe it was a 4dr I don't remenber) that was really clean on craigslist about 4-6 months ago for about 2500.

its tough to price someone elses stuff. its also tough to do it with any pictures. how far away is he from where you are? drive up, take your own pictures, and meet this guy face-to-face. you should have a good idea what the value is at that point.

you can always just throw a number out.

Then how can he know if he's being cheated or not, if he doesn't know what they're worth in the first place?

  16. What is going to happen, is one guy is going to offer him a ton of money to get up there first to see them. He will probably not end up buying them. This will happen again and again.
Either that, or he will have 20 guys up there all at the same time bidding on them. Trying to stuff checks in his hands as fast as they can.
I've been to those more times than I care to and it just pisses me off.

Tell him you have the cash, but you won't offer anything until you see them in person.

Then stand down. Don't discuss anything at all, give him the idiot treatment except,

"When and Where can I see them in person"?

That will get him at his own game. If he responds with a date and time, show up with a trailer and lots of $100 bills. At that point, not saying anything at all about only one until then, tell him you are only buying one of them and if the money you lay down is right you're taking it on the spot.
