You'll be glad you kept that frame in the long run. :)

As for motor mount questions, check out Wyatt's (InDaShop) post here:

Tech: Mount any Motor/Tranny in any Frame
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=143120

He moved his Photobucket pictures, so the photos were no longer there. Because it was too old, he couldn't go back and edit it, so he re-posted it, pictures and all, towards the bottom of page two of the thread.

OK. I think I looked into all these post and I don't think I saw anything on useing a s10 frame on a 55 ford pickup. Has anybody attempted this?

A lot of us have heard about the Blazer/Henry J swap, but most of the pics out there are taken after the fact, and of finished cars! Thanks for this, and feel free to post ANY more in-progress pics! We know it's real, REAL close, but any pics that demonstrate this are always appreciated, as are any tips/experiences you could relate to us about this specific swap!

why stop at just the frame? I kept the firewall and floor and all the systems. even the EFI 4 cylinder. I think the wiper motor will even work.

joedoh : I saw your build pics on another forum, very impressive. Have you made any progress past the info on that thread? (update)

Post us some stuff every once in a while!

This S-10 thread is the most complete and technical you'll find ANYWHERE online. A LOT of folks come to the HAMB just to look at it. And as far as I know, YOU'LL be the FIRST to actually post in-progress pics of this swap!

Thanks for making history with us! And hey, nice P600... :)

    No problem, man!

Now you know you're not stuck with a 350/350 - you can put ANY motor in there! :D

I know Im not stuck with it, but it seemss to be the most basic set up. I like simplicity, with it being my first real project. But then again, if I came across another set up at a deal I couldn't pass up it could be different.

Mines a '54 on a S-10 frame/chassis. Much like Joe Doh i used the floor and firewall from the S-10. It dosn't look too great and sometimes was a pain in the ass to combine the two, but it wasn't very expensive either.

ok... i'm gonna go ahead and be the newbie for a minute... why is everybody using such tall cab mounts for an AD truck...?

Because the S-10 frame dips in the center and the tall mounts are required to mount the cab without cutting the floor out

I used a 1988 4.3 long wheel base frame in my wagon it was easy to shorten the frame and new mounts were easy to do as well I did C the rear frame for the rear drop and replaced the rear cross member with steel tube because of the wagons under side, only complaint is it lays frame (front cross member)while you're driving if you hit some bad concrete expanion joints . weighted it at the truck sales last week and with all the new steel and wood body it weighted 1800# front and 1820# rear with a full tank of gas, 3620# with 350 hp works good:cool:

    What he said!

Or, start your own build thread, and post a link to it here - we'd ALL love to see that!

I bought a throw away camera when I started the build but after 9 years of being in my tool box when I took them in for processing I only got 3 or 4 shots of the frame and the u channel area that I cut to shorten the frame I'll try and do something on the hamb with all the photos I have John Lee the editor of The Woodie Times has all so asked for the same thing.

me thinks you are mistaken... my cab mounts are an 1" above the frame... i've got plenty of clearance and all that was needed was a driveshaft tunnel and omitting my core support... am i nuts or is there something i'm not seeing...?

that's the biggest concern of mine... me and a couple guys have beat the bed issue to death... at this point i'm voting for mating the rear of the old chassis with the s-10 to keep the bed side pretty much original...

Believe it or not, I've talked to several chassis builders about making a custom S-10 chassis back half for folks using said chassis in a swap-type situation such as these...

If your going this way, I have a cross member that you can use. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=317178 Makes it easy to get the brakes and steering of the S-10 without cutting inner fenders or anything.

you still had to cut the floor to add the tunnel. to avoid that, 3.5" above the frame is the lowest that you can go which is where I am at. A few "adjustments" with a BFH are required for the u-joint area.

Heres a S10 Blazer 2wd Frame Im using.... I had a S10 shortbox pickup I was going to use .. but for what I wanted it for.. it was not the way to go for me.... I do think the Blazer Frame has narrower Frame rails..
    Heres a couple of pictures..

Looks like the kick-up in the rear frame rails is shorter and more drastic. From the shock mount to the rearest spring hanger is more level on an pick-up as well I believe.

I'm looking to do a S-10Blazer 100" frame under a 65 IH Scout 80. It will be my wife's. I am currently looking for a good deal on a 4x4 blazer for the swap.
