did this win an award and what exactly is it? willys? i love the shape but not the stance.

that Buick was something else huh?
there were some really nice bikes there too, especially the BSA and harley from CRACKPOT and i think that bloke from Antique Motorcycles at Moorabbin airport had that indian powered car and the twin exhaust port indian something-or-other hardtail.

i'm getting my film processed tomorrow, pics should be up by the end of the week.

ps: Nekronomicon i think you may know my cousin sarah graham and possibly my friends boyfriend Tyson. if so, small world.

I think the word that sums up the show for me was diluted.

imagine the nice cars were red cordial, and the rest were water, the whole show was barely a pinky tinge.

Hey man... not sure what show you attended:confused:
With over 1700 there I can count the number of cars that I wouldn't own, on my two hands! Not sure what you've seen, but thousands of kewl kats came over to thank us repeatedly over the weekend for setting up the best show in Oz. We done our darnest to keep things clean and fun and I thought we succeeded! Show us all the Commodores and other undesirable cars that were there, I can't seem to find any in the pics above, or the thousands of images that we were given. I'm confused... are we talking about the same show? Give me a call to let me know what we handled wrong:confused:

  15. Dont take it personally John. Its nothing to do with you or how the show was handled.
    Its just a preference thing.
I did see an XE in the mix on sunday :p

Paucho, isn't it torture, when you look outside at this "Damn Snow",and then have to endure fine pics like these! Thanks to our "Southern Hemisphere HAMB Family",for the fine photos,it helps us get our winter fix of quality rods and customs.:D

Don't worry Chopper, these blokes that probably wouldn't admit to liking Aussie built cars, let alone driving one.
They also wouldn't know what it takes to run a show, they just turn up and hang **** on it, Trev.

No critisism of the event or how its run John, it was flawless in that respect!!
Look I'm not saying it was full of bad cars, just that it was huge and the cars that grabbed my eye were few.
Now I will also admit to having one of the narrowest focuses on traditional cars possible...and its my downfall at something like this, as such a wide selection of styles of custom and modified cars are on offer.and that mix gets wider every year it seems.
But it was a great event, and something that would hold up anywhere worldwide I think!

Its really counterproductive in such a (relatively) small scene to ***** about other people's cars being 'not "kool" enough to be here' or 'too stock' or 'too imported as a complete kustom'.

If I see TWO cars at one of these shows that flipped my Brylcream, then it was a TOTAL success....if I suspect that a show won't be MY scene....I DON'T GO (well....certainly not the second time). I stay home and keep building what I'm trying to build.

If I see something on a car that can't be EASILY fixed, I keep my mouth shut (never easy).

Its about COOL OLD CARS....NOBODY OWNS IT.....NOBODY is the final judge....and NOBODY is Kirk !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!So put up (pix of YOUR car) or shut up.

Pix? Stories? New Thread for Korumburra Swapmeet???????

  23. Why is it every time there is a show from oz put up it turns into a slanging match........
Time to get over it. Unfortnately we don't have the numbers they do in the states to have big shows aimed solely at trad rod and customs nor do alot of the poeple here get it anyway.

My two girls and my wife had fun, therefore making my time there even more enjoyable. Saw heaps of cars but can't say I'd want to own most of them, but best of all when we drove in on the Sunday pre 64 no matter what make was sent into the sealed area to park and anything later was out on the gr***. No badge or country preference. Bout ****ing time!!! But best of all I got some seat time in both my cars and got to cruise both my cars round a great track and saw a heap of people I hadn't seen in awhile.

It is what you make of it and if you saw Sean and the Cabellero's out you'd know what I mean....either that or they were pissed for two days straight :D :D

Perspective is a funny thing you know. I think my taste in cars is somewhere in the vicinity of Ben's. I wasn't too interested in looking at a lot of the cars on Sunday but on the trip down and back I found myself twisting my neck around to see all sorts of cars that I appreciate. Giving thumbs up to a guy in a GTHO and the like.

My point is that when we see all these cars in one spot, some of us (including me) start to get picky about what's cool, but see any one of them on the road and they get our attention...it's perspective.

It was evident that effort was being made to keep categories of cars corralled, although many had better ideas. Great event John

  25. That '49 Buick was built by Justin Hills. He's got a shop, Hills & Co Customs up in Taree, New South Wales www.hillsandcocustoms.com.au and does some really nice work on ALL SORTS of stuff.

Buick won Top Bodywork and Top Mild/Wild Custom in the Street cl*** in Summernats, even though it was in the Elite Hall. SUPER nice car and nice un***uming bloke as well.

Only problem with Justin is... he's a POM! ;)

Damn! There were some amazing cars. That Buick and that '36 especially.

There are always some cars that aren't HAMB-friendly, but I didn't see HAMB in the ***le of the show anywhere.

    What does this mean?

Love all the Kustoms, seems for the most part we here in NZ have never really been big Kustom folks...... if I have to endure another totaly stock bodied all the trim in place 55 Chev I will be sick :)
Love all those EK's and the sweet looking grey motor in the Humpy makes me all nostalgic.
