Just a small update on my dad s chassis I started a year and a half ago. Got the new frame table sqaured away so while I was waiting on my news sets of rails to arive I figured I would try to get the rearend sqaured away before starting a new customer frame.

Dad really wanted to use the 35-36 rear bones so to beef them up alittle I am running a top 7/8 .156 Dom ala " Rolling Bones Style", and will add a gusset between the pieces at the midpoint.

really like the way is looking. Should be plenty strong. Heres some pics

It is still in mockup stages

Gotta run to Don Ross's Shop tomorrow to tap some more 7/8 tube so the passenger side is on hold till tomorrow night. Once everything is setup correct and in place I will final weld everything

Is the 7/8" DOM tubing needed because of alot of HP or more because the 35-36 bones need a little extra beefing up??

    They look good!

  6. Lookin good! I like the way youre using the 36 bones ,it just shows you that modified original parts are better alot of the time than the 1-800 variety.

This frame was supposed to go under my tudor but it got sold to buy my 5w. It is now going under my 5 window. I really dont know if I have time before the roundup . But it is really taking shape. I cant wait to take that cookie cutter 1951 331 caddy with 4 X 2 's out for a more traditional 327 . Great work as always !!!!

I was just told my by local steel supplier that the major manufacturer of DOM was going to stop making it (too costly, low market). She said the smaller mills will have higher prices on the DOM. Have you heard anything about this from your supplier down there?

Rusty, does the DOM and the bone have the same pivot point up front. I can't get my glasses adjusted enough to see. I thought I was going to get to come see you a couple of weeks back but a deal I had working fell through. Looks good as usual. TP

I was really limited on positioning this set up since it is using the 35-36 rear bone spring setup. I could not use a bar like a Pete and jakes style beacuse of the relation to where it fell out. I opted to use the center piece knowing that it may need to be welded out in the long run. Ther are still two downward pieces that connect the to x members together that will get welded in and the top plate that joins thw two together will still get welded out. Once alll these are in It should not move any but if you have ever taken a ladder bar setup apart with a buggy spring in tack it is always a push/ pull type day to get it back in place.

    thanks for the compliments
