Still have not heard from the east coast crowd...... Also found another link for the after party. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=314497

the ISCA should start leasing "REAL" show cars (like all our stuff) for all the world of wheel & autorama shows. do you really give a **** about the old & new knight rider cars ? really? or the speed racer car? when i was a kid they had cool **** there and ******* bunnies! I know it costs guys like Moriarity, Plowboy & Myself about 2 grand a show with gas, food & hotel stay to show our stuff for free. with the economy the way it is this may be the last time i show my **** for free! FRITZ
I am coming over, see what the west side guys are building. Hot Rods and Honeys always gets Me out of the winter, snow, **** *** weather funk.
I miss the chicks and "circuit cars" As a kid that is why we looked forward to the ISCA show in Omaha. I remember they usually had 4 semis trailers fo these types of cars. You have to appreicate every bit of work that went into them - even if they are not HAMB friendly cars.
I'm going to be in Kentwood tonight through Friday night. Anything worth checking out while I'm on that side of town?
i'm NOT going. when i was a teenager and lived out there i went all the time but after i discovered Detroit i just could'nt stomach the G.R. event anymore. i think i went about 3 or 4 years ago the last time and it was no different than i remembered. a damn shame. G.R. is a great town and i think they deserve (and can do) better.
i think the T.V. and movie cars are mostly there to attract the kiddies and get them interested. not a bad idea. gotta get em hooked when they are young. it worked on me. i'm the first car nut in the history of my family. had to be all those crazy cars i saw on T.V as a youngin that did it. T.V. woulda been the first exposure i had to such things. i did'nt grow up with a dad or uncle that was tinkering with hot rods. i came by it all on my own.
R1FIGHTER, I wish I could tell you all the things that are going on but there's not really anything going on. Don't know what you are doing over on this side but shoot me a PM.
Agreed. The show was friggen great to me when I was a kid in the 80's and 90's, but I was a kid and it might not have been that great. Then it went away and came back small and kinda lame. But I have nothing better going on in January and only minutes from the show. Also sick of seeing the TV cars....seeing the same banged up general lee every year is kinda annoying.
I go to car shows to see "show Cars" I don't need to see a red 57 chevy rag top with every factory accessory made. I never need to see another 67 mustang fastback ellanor clone. although i love them no one needs to see yet another 49 - 51 merc with desoto grill and packard tailights. I want to see SHOW CARS! somthing that is just slick or stupid, Ed Roth stuff! The Golden Sahara ! ******* bunny coach! hell even the pink panther or pinball wizard are better then the knight rider cars!?!?!?! That ya never know what the hell might be there thrill seems to be gone it aint cause i have gotten older I think the promoters just done give a **** anymore. if they keep overlooking guys like me Moriarity, plowboy and shuten they will end up with nothing FRITZ
I think there is an after party at : Clique Lanes Address: 533 Stocking Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504 Phone: 616-456-6123 Swingin' Demon on here is in a band playing there Saturday. Think this is where he told me. I'd call first. The band is ... naturally "the Swingin Demons". http://www.myspace.com/theswingindemons
E-gads! I must have poisoned this thread. Not a sole posted after me. Hope someone post some pics of the show since I couldn't make it. The after party was where I said in the previous post. Anybody go and how was it?
You didn't miss anything Deuce, how many camaros does anyone really want to look at. The Relix were the only ones who brought any "Traditional" cars, Jake from Caledonia had two cars(Nice chevy Jake) there and one low rider that you had to look at regardless of your likes and dislikes. Did not make it to the after party due to a cold.
After party was a good time, The Relix throw a great party with great bands. Swingn Demons, Wild Woody's, Al and the Black Cats.
i posted these on the wrong thread (2007) i guess. Here are pictures of a couple Relix cars, CraftyB's 48 chevy and Jakes 54 Chevy.
That about sums it up. This was my first GR autorama, and after going to Detroit the past several years, no comparison. Me and my friend ( that has been to Detroit the last several years too) got in the doors and looked at eachother and said "this is it". We kept looking around for another part to it, like a downstairs or something. There are some cool cars and cool guys in Grand Rapids, but only a few were there.
Any info on "Ingenue" the Buick Dealers Group funny car that is in the bkgd. of Tradrod's pic? Looked like it had some great stories to tell.
