I just got my second set of Whalen Noxon's and they are still the only two pairs of them I've ever seen but I love them. The second set came off of a 1930 Chrysler 8 but they were aftermarket pieces obviously. I also got some Bleriot running lights just because of the history. Check out Bleriot in your search engine if you are into aviation. He built car parts to support his flying addiction. Neat stuff I think. Terribly expensive but I guess his airplane habit was too.

I'm making some new similar headlights right now in br***, copper, and also in aluminum. I'm going to make 100 pairs and also tail lights. I should have the first set done and posted in a couple weeks. It's a real pain in the *** but I just didn't think there were enough cool headlights out there. We'll see if I'm right I guess.

These are on my '34 plymouth coupe......not origional....maybe aftermarket...I dunno....I DO like them though! Especially the FLAT lenses. They take a tail light type bulb and have polished nickle reflectors inside. I very much wanted a "6 volt look" and of course a "12 volt (read useful) look" so I wired them using a regular old tail light bulb (1157) - I use the "parking light" filament as my 6 volt look and I put power to BOTH filaments for my cruisin' light. It's looks great in both modes, but since the release of the super bright bulbs I keep wanting to try them and see how much brighter they might be. The "dual" purpose has me sold - looks killer - but then again I am biased:eek:

    1932 Studebaker!

Here is a shot from the cover of The Studebaker Driver's Club publication, Turning Wheels, January 1995. It's a 1932 Studebaker Model 55 convertible sedan. Those elongated headlights are elegant.

To see what they would look like on a rod, a pic from Rodder's Digest, February, 2005

Also from Rodder's Digest, February, 2005:
The Bob Sargis/Ted Houchin truck. It's a junkyard beast with agressive style.
But the thing I zeroed-in on were the headlights. They are only identified as swap meet specials (best kind!).

Anyone know what they are from? These babies look good front and rear.
The front lens is elongated with a peak at the top of the bucket. The peak continues as a ridge down the back of the bucket.

From the photos, they look to be nickle plated, but it's hard to tell. I'd guess late twenties, early thirties. As a guess - maybe '31 Stude?

I saw those on ebay and thought; "Those are neat and would look good on my '29 RPU next to the chrome grille shell." Then I looked at the then auction price of around $1900-$2000 dollars and I said; "Who's stupid enough to pay THAT much?" At $2600 that's a complete flathead motor rebuild. You could fab your own up and have them plated for less than that. Of course you couldn't say; "I have these original fancy headlights that I paid way too much for on ebay."

I love headlights! I have a small collection of them. Here's a pic of some of the different headlights you can get with the light on top. Plus I'm lucky enough to have two sets of the Electrolines with matching taillights. I thought I was crazy when I paid $150 for a pair.

Thanks Clark. Its nice to see the different styles in one picture. I've grown attached to the different styles with the top-mounted "turn signal". I want a set for my car. Its a nice way to have turn signals and still have the light be in the style as the car and not some modern add on.

Thanks Flathead Youngin for this post. Anybody else have pictures of other styles? My Guide Headlight picture file is getting bigger from this post.

I was researching some lights and found this old post tonight.
I finally found the mate to my last Whalen Noxon tonight and also thought I should post up some pictures of some other rare lights I love.
These are the Bleriots I had from a 1927 Bleriot Whippet Cycle Car and a killer Lucifer light that I can't find a mate too....YET.

Hmmm...I still can't get the Bleriot pictures to load. it says wrong file type on it and even when I resave it, I can't post it. Strange. Well, anyway, here's a Lucifer.

lots of guys like to run the big headlamps. My personal favorite are 8" king bees. I prety much gave up arguing over headlamp size on the hamb. Big looks good on this girl I must add, not on a period hot rod. I have a nice pair new in the box for sale PM if interested

Those are 28-29 Model A Headlamps that have been chrome-plated, the Ford script oval was polished off deliberately, I'd say.

I have a set of rebuilt model A lights I was going to use on my 29 highboy, but they just looked too big after I got them on--so I used a set of King Bees I had laying around--changed the whole look of the car.

The little lenses on the top of all those old Guide and B-L-C etc lamps are parking lamps and wired as such in the socket.

Turnsignals were generally mounted on top of the front fenders or elsewhere up front.

my brother found a set of those on CL for $20! they are MINT too. some woman had em on her front porch in a box and didn't know what they were. the $20 bill almost caught fire he pulled it out of his wallet so fast! :D

  20. On my third set of Dietz.
One black pair and two chrome pairs.

Good quality headlights, great chrome, never had a problem with them.
Halogen seal beams (about $9. at Wally World) fit with no probs - mechanically or with the plug.

    Installed a pair of King Bees on a pal's 1938 Morris 12.
Took a machined canted washer to tip the headlights up far enough to be useful.
    Looked really good.
(Morris 12's appear similar to the drag racing Anglia's we're all familiar with.)

Talked to a guy a while back who was interested in my new and un-used Bob Drake 50 Pontiac taillights.
Then I saw the old light bar with headlights sitting in the corner - he'd just tossed on a new chrome light bar with a pair of Dietz on his Model A.

The lights don't look like Model A lights, but seem to be longer and the bolt-on rim rolls further over on what looks like a sealed beam light.
Perhaps BLC from what I can tell.

I like chrome lights, but a painted pair of these would look good on my 31 roadster.

Guess I need to start carrying the Pontiac taillights in the 32 so's they'll be handy for a swap . . . like the Boy Scouts say, "Be Prepared."

  21. Forgot to mention that the ol Ford 9N tractors had a good looking headlight.
A one beam special, but that could be cured with a plug and some wire.

Not sure if the standard 7" seal beam would fit, I'm guessing probably not cuz the whole light looks a little smaller than Dietz etc.
