how to properly break in a new garage (burnout with my 62 ranchero)

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by karfer67, Jan 13, 2009.

  1. As one who has only ever done 200-300 burnouts in my lifetime and many other things that were fun but would be called stupid, good on ya laddy.

For all the old farts who just think it is stupid and dangerous, go restore a Model A.

    Peace.

At least you are having fun, something this sport of ours lacks a lot of, just be safe about it.

thank you it is just controlled insanity. now the burnouts that were done at billetproof antioch last year were not safe at all. tons of people standing too close, and cars going too fast. someone was going to get hurt glad they shut that down. it is all about having fun as long as it is somewhat safe :D

  4. Wow!! sounds like alot of big goverment types around here that want to protect us from ourselves. Al Gore would be proud! Rember it is his car, his tires, his gas, and his life. Let him live it!

Then do that stuff at the Drag Strip.

  6. you should of asked everybody if it was ok that you wanted to do a burnout before you did it.
i was going to say i thought it was cool. then i read everybody else thinks it's stupid, so i don't like it either

  7. Thanks Dad, I will take that under advi*****t. I will never squeak a tire on the pavement again unless it is at a sanctioned race track. In fact, I won't even do it there because it is so scary and unsafe. I have changed my ways and I will put the stock flathead six back in my truck and tune it so it has even less power so there is no chance of accidentally spinning a tire.

Seriously, are you guys street rodders or hot rodders here?

i agree that high speed driving should be done on the track but sorry for those that did not like it i was in first which maxed out is good for 20 mph and as you can see i let out way before that. i have been doing this sort of thing for a long time. now if i had said that this was the first time i had ever ever tried to break the tires loose on any car that would not be the best idea. but i have to side with aj in that this is hot rodding. while your at it get rid of the loud exhaust, and oh yea i guess flame throwers are out the window too.

Are you kidding me? There isn't a week that goes by that I don't spin the piss out of the tires on rod. Granted, it might not be in the middle of my neighborhood or in traffic, usually on the eighth-mile entrance road to my neighborhood when nobody is around, but I love the sound of burnin' rubber! And I got news for you, my 72 yr. old Dad will do the same thing every freakin' time he gets in my car! LOL. I agree, be smart, but hell, have a little fun ONCE in a while.

Next time do it at a crowded intersection when first at the light. That is allways good . I did one in highschool pulling out of auto shop. Was unlucky enough to blow a tire, Vice P called the cops  Dad took my car for 2-weeks. Still pulling "BONZEYES" today as an adult. Knuk, Knuk ! ! !

I can smoke the tires in the wife's PT cruiser but that don't make it cool. Burn'um up. I got more sense than to do them in a garage. Cause my wife would KILL ME. :D
