Not in motion, but I think cool nonetheless, my brother and I in front of what was "the Black Arrow" the morning before we went to the track for the first time with it. Note that we towed it with a '67 440 GTX, and my brother's '68 Road Runner is behind it at the back of the driveway, and my dad's '62 chrysler work car in the background.

John Macey's "Led Zepplin" '67 Plymouth Hemi station wagon. IMO, the prettiest one to hit the race track. Here he is beating another friend of ours, the late Joe Kenny.

This is our '65 990 car running the Centolanza Brothers '66 or '67 "B" body hemi car. I don't think this could have been one of the '66 race cars because I think they were all sedans, and this is a hardtop.

The original "Black Arrow" had been quickly and crudely butchered up into a funny car like so many of the 990 cars of the day. We wanted to run Super Stock. In the winter of '68 we bought a wrecked '64 Plymouth, made it into a '65 and transferred the 'Arrows running gear. We kept the hulk in our shop for some time when a local kid asked to by it. We sold it to him for fifty bucks (including all the fiberglass body panels!). He had it in his back yard for a year or so and his Mom told him she wanted hiim to get rid of it. He took it to Consoldated Metal Works in Newburgh N.Y. where it was crushed<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Yes - ironically that's one of the winningest race cars of all time.

    Thanks Doc,

The second I saw that scoop that logo popped into my head & it made me laugh so much… Like I said "I couldn't help myself!"… I had to share!

That's correct "Nipper" is the dog's name. That logo goes way back through several mergers.

And now back to drag racing…

  30. I watched John Smyser do this at Irwindale. "Terrifying Toranado" takes on real meaning when it's headed for you!
